On 18 March 2024, the Department of Graphic Design conducted the defence of reports on the practice of bachelor students under the educational programme "Graphic Design". The educational programme provides for the completion of educational practice (1st and 2nd years), industrial practice (3rd year) and pre-diploma practice (4th year).

The purpose of the 1st and 2nd-year bachelor’s practice was to make sketches with subsequent stylisation and use them as a source for the development of graphic design objects. Together with their supervisors, the students visited art exhibitions and museums: National Museum of Natural History of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine; Kyiv Zoological Park; National Museum of History of Ukraine; greenhouses of the Expocenter of Ukraine (VDNG) and Hryshko National Botanical Garden; National Conservation Area “St Sophia of Kyiv”, National Museum of Architecture and Life of Ukraine and other locations.

The industrial and pre-diploma practice of bachelors was held at modern enterprises of Ukraine, in particular, LLC "Publishing House "Arthass", Kyiv, LLC "Centre for Modern Design", Odesa, LLC "Takawa", Kyiv, Art Master Advertising Agency LLC, Zhytomyr, Marketing Technologies Bureau LLC, Kyiv, YUSTON Publishing and Printing Company LLC, Kyiv, YUBIY PAK Studio LLC, Kyiv, Nova Reklama LLC, Kyiv, and many others.

The main objectives of the industrial and pre-diploma practice were to improve the practical skills of independent work as a graphic designer in the process of developing and practicing graphic design objects. Depending on the conditions at a particular enterprise, the students were asked to specify an individual task in one of the following formats: designing promotional products, packaging, corporate identity, posters, etc.

Practice heads Yevhen Hula, Professor, Acting Head of the Department of Graphic Design of KNUTD, Oleksandra Kolisnyk, Professor of the Department of Graphic Design of KNUTD, Oksana Maznichenko, Associate Professor of the Department of Graphic Design, Sviatoslav Podlevskyi, Associate Professor, reviewed the practice reports, noted the most creative design projects of students that were completed during the practice at the enterprises and the Department. The guarantor of the programme "Graphic Design" Natalia Chuprina, Professor, and Kalyna Pashkevych, Dean of the Faculty of Design, were invited for the defence of the practice and noted the high level of students’ work.

As a result of the practice, the students acquired skills in sketching and styling objects using computer programs, got acquainted with the technologies, equipment and organisation of modern printing industries, as well as traditional and modern materials in graphic design. Some of the projects completed by the students during their industrial and pre-diploma practice were recommended by the Department of Graphic Design for participation in various competitions.
