On April 2, 2024, as part of Design Week at KNUTD, a lecture entitled "Modern Design of General Secondary Education Institutions’ Environments" was delivered by Danylo Kosenko, PhD, and head of the Department of Interior and Furniture Design, KNUTD.
At the beginning, the lecturer briefly outlined the main stages of the development of educational spaces from the late Middle Ages to the end of the 20th century and demonstrated how the trends that had emerged over centuries continue to influence the contemporary design of educational environments in secondary institutions.
In the second part of the lecture, Danylo Kosenko outlined the main qualities of modern educational spaces in schools, such as integrity, completeness, functionality, manageability, flexibility, individualization, and sociality. The lecturer paid particular attention to contemporary trends in participatory design in school environmental design, involving teachers, students, parents, and other stakeholders in the design process.
The lecture took place in an online format. It was attended not only by the lecturers and students of KNUTD but also by those from other universities in Ukraine, as well as designers participating in Ukrainian Design and Innovation Week.
