On April 15, 2024, the opening of the personal exhibition “TRAVEL SKETCHES” by Doctor of Architecture, Professor, Honored Architect of Ukraine, Head of the Scientific School of Environmental Design and Professor of Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design, Vadym Abyzov, took place at the “Art Space” Exhibition Center. The author is also a full member (Academician) of the Ukrainian Academy of Architecture and the National Committee of the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS/UNESCO), as well as a participant in international and all-Ukrainian art exhibitions.
The exhibition opening was initiated by Professor Ivan Gryshchenko, Doctor of Science in Economics, Academician of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine, and Rector of Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design. He congratulated the author on this significant event, emphasizing that Vadym Abyzov is an outstanding world-class scientist, teacher, and the exhibition, he noted, reveals another facet of his creative personality, which is why the “Art Space” was established at KNUTD. Additionally, the Rector announced the University’s accession to the Three Seas Initiative Cultural Cooperation Network (3SICCN), highlighting its authority in arts and culture.
During the introductory speech, Vadym Abyzov presented his works created during various journeys, paying tribute to his teachers, including the teacher of painting, the renowned Ukrainian artist Yurii Khymych.
The exhibition opening was attended by numerous honored guests – friends and colleagues of Vadym Abyzov, including well-known architects, artists, famous scholars and public figures in the field of art, architecture and design, representatives of higher education institutions: Kyiv National University of Construction and Architecture, National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture, Kyiv National University of Culture and Arts, Ukrainian National Committee of the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS), Mykhailo Boichuk Kyiv State Academy of Decorative Applied Arts and Design, etc.
Doctor of Architecture, Professor Oleh Sleptsov, president of the Ukrainian Academy of Architecture, and People’s Architect of Ukraine, congratulated the author on this significant event, highlighting the multifaceted nature of his personality.
Doctor of Architecture, Professor Oleksandr Kashchenko, Dean of the Faculty of Architecture at Kyiv National University of Construction and Architecture, Merited Worker of Education of Ukraine, spoke about Vadym Abyzov’s extensive pedagogical and creative activities, presenting him with “the best source of creative ideas in art” – a blank watercolor paper album.
Congratulations on the opening of Vadym Abyzov’s personal exhibition were also extended by his colleagues from Poland. Valdemar Kozub, a renowned Polish artist and Doctor habilitatus, professor at the Kielce University of Technology, emphasized that both the research and artistic work of Vadym Abyzov are well-known among colleagues in Poland, where Vadym Abyzov has taught, participated in plein airs, and held personal exhibitions.
On behalf of all thebcolleagues, Doctor of Architecture, Professor Olena Oliinyk, Vice President of the National Union of Architects of Ukraine, conveyed greetings to Vadym Abyzov on the occasion of his personal exhibition.
The art works presented at Professor Vadym Abyzov’s personal exhibition “TRAVEL SKETCHES” were created by the author over the years in various techniques and reflect one of the aspects of the multi-year and diverse creative activity of the talented artist. This project allows viewers to pause and see the author’s impressions and the richness of Ukraine’s and other countries’ cultural and natural heritage, as well as the author’s refined, elegant, and expressive reflections on their perception.
After the solemn opening, all the attendees, including guests, faculty, and students of Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design, had the opportunity to acquaint themselves with the works presented at the exhibition.
