On April 18, 2024, a visiting session of the scientific clubs of the Department of Art and Fashion Design "Fashion Design: Tectonics of Shaping" and "Current Trends in Fashion Design" was held.
Students of the first (bachelor's) and second (master's) levels of the "Fashion Design" educational program gained experience in combining different areas of scientific research in the development and implementation of complex projects in fashion design. For this purpose, the meeting of the club took place at the design and production base of KASS fashion brand.
Bohdan Kass, the designer, founder and owner of the brand, shared with the students his practical experience of defining and implementing the main factors in the development of modern clothing of various classes and purposes, and gave a comparative analysis of the work of designers and designer brands in the conditions of the Ukrainian fashion industry.
Natalia Chuprina, Head of the Department of Art and Fashion Design, emphasized the importance of implementing modern methods of designing single and complex clothing models, as well as costume collections. Olena Herasymenko, the guarantor of the educational and professional program "Fashion Design" at the second (master's) level of higher education, told the students about the specifics of pre-project work for improving the design and planning of clothing models of various assortments and purposes.
Kalyna Pashkevych, Dean of the Faculty of Design, guarantor of the educational program "Fashion Design" at the first (bachelor's) level of higher education, drew the students’ attention to the importance of design and composition technologies and properties of fabrics in the development of complex forms of a costume and the careful selection of means of harmonizing the appearance of clothes of different range and purpose.
This opinion was supported by Natalia Yevdokimova, the leading designer of the KASS brand, who demonstrated to the students the design and construction means of implementing clothing models, from sketches to finished models. She also drew the attention of those present to the importance of creating high quality and thorough outfit sketches for flawlessly creating the given shape of the product.
The students were present during the fitting of several models of clothes, which are being prepared for the presentation of the collection, and had the opportunity to learn about the specifics of the production of the models for future collections.
