On April 23, 2024, teachers and students of the Department of Art and Fashion Design held a meeting of the scientific club "Reconstruction of Historical Costume" (scientific supervisors - associate professors Halyna Kokorina and Iryna Davydenko). The goal of the club is to create a base of practical knowledge of design students in the process of studying the fashion experience of different periods and peoples.
The meeting of the club took place on the base of the exhibition of students of the Department of Art and Fashion Design, presented in the Museum of the History of KNUTD Development as part of the Design Week at KNUTD. The opening of the exhibition "Ukrainian Costume: Tradition and Modernity" took place on April 4, 2024. The event was attended by the students and academic staff of the Department of Art and Fashion Design: Kalyna Pashkevych, Dean of the Faculty of Design, Professor; Natalia Chuprina, Head of the Department, Professor; Olena Herasymenko, Associate Professor; Halyna Kokorina, Associate Professor; Iryna Davydenko, Associate Professor; Iryna Chubotina, senior teacher and Olena Mukovnina, assistant.

The exposition presents ensembles consisting of authentic samples of Ukrainian folk costumes and costume elements, which 2nd-year students performed during their educational practice. Based on the inspection of museum samples of decorative and applied art and Ukrainian costume, study of cut, materials and decoration, the students, members of the scientific club "Reconstruction of Historical Costume" carried out a creative representative reconstruction of products of traditional Ukrainian clothing.
During the meeting of the scientific club, Halyna Kokorina emphasized that holding thematic shows and popularizing the Ukrainian traditional costume, developed at the Department of Art and Fashion Design, is a significant and effective factor not only in improving the professional training of fashion designers but also as a means of preserving self-identification and cultural perfection in modern Ukrainian society.
Iryna Davydenko told the audience that at the exhibition everyone can see a modern look at the traditional elements of the Ukrainian folk costume: the use of bold color combinations, interesting decoration techniques, stylization of patterns and decorations, stressing that holding exhibitions of student developments and projects became possible due to cooperation with historical, art and ethnographic museums of Ukraine.
