AN OPEN LECTURE BY PAWEŁ ŚWIĘCKI, PROFESSOR AT THE POZNAN UNIVERSITY OF ECONOMICS AT THE FACULTY OF MANAGEMENT AND BUSINESS DESIGN

On 25 April 2024, as part of the Economic Week, an open lecture by Professor Paweł Sliwinski, Head of the Department of International Finance at the Poznan University of Economics, was organised at the Faculty of Management and Business Design on the initiative of the Smart Economy Department. The online lecture was attended by more than 70 bachelor's degree students majoring in Economics, Finance, Banking, Insurance and Stock Market, Management, Marketing, Accounting and Taxation, Management and Administration.

The topic of the lecture - ‘Financial Investment Solutions for the Smart Economy’ - was chosen specifically because it concerned innovative solutions for creating a business model for the gaming industry, an issue that is now a major part of the smart economy. According to the lecturer, currently, one in eight Polish companies listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange is engaged in software and services for the digital gaming market.

At the beginning of the lecture, Professor Pawel Sliwinski delved into the theoretical aspects of macroeconomic development by considering its factors and their formalisation.

At the same time, the lecturer drew the audience's attention to the differences in macroeconomic situations and development issues in Poland during its accession to the EU. In particular, the issue of balance of payments was also explored by the professor in his article ‘Economic divergence between Poland and Ukraine in terms of their balance sheets’.

The lecture continued with the successful organisation of the gaming business in Poland in 2016 through innovative approaches to finding sources of funding for start-ups in the gaming industry.

Taking into account the volume and interest in the lecture material and the limited time available, all participants expressed a desire to meet again in the near future and continue to learn about the experience of managing and financing innovative business structures based on the use of digital technologies.

We are very grateful to our Polish colleague for the interesting lecture. We look forward to new meetings and hope for the opportunity to hold an offline lecture by Professor Paweł Sliwinski directly at our University.
