BUSINESS GAME AS ONE OF THE MODERN TEACHING METHODS AT THE UNIVERSITY

As part of studying the educational components "Fundamentals of Entrepreneurship" and "Organization of Own Business" on April 29, 2024, the Department of Entrepreneurship and Business organized a business game based on a business simulation between students of the 1st and 2nd years of the specialty 076 Entrepreneurship and Trade.

Conducting a business game based on a business simulation allows you to activate not only the educational activities of the applicants, but also to develop the research, creative, professional process. The competitive spirit of the business game reveals the ability of applicants to abstract thinking, analysis and synthesis, readiness to act in non-standard situations; evaluate the consequences of decisions made; the ability to manage a team (collective), and provides an opportunity to simulate objective conditions and a system of relationships in a team, conduct an independent analysis of a problem and develop a solution.

The moderator of the business game was the head of the Department of Entrepreneurship and Business, Doctor of Economics, Professor Taliat Bielialov.

 

According to the rules of the business game, the winners were divided into four teams. Taliat Bielialov named the goals of the teams, conditions, and rules of the game. Each team was given conditional business tools: one marker of a different color (production tool), five wooden cubes and conditional funds in the amount of UAH 50. The task of the business game was to paint the 1st side of the cube with different colors and sell it for 80 hryvnias (conditional) within a given period. In the process of coloring, participants had to negotiate with other teams about the exchange of markers, the process of buying and selling both cubes and markers. The team that completes the task the fastest receives funds. The next stage of the game consisted of painting the other sides of the cubes and selling them for a higher price than the initial one. Each team in the process of the business game had to buy, color, and sell more cubes. The winning team was determined to be the team that will use the resources and the situation more effectively and competently and earn more money!

 

 

At the end of the business game, the results of the participants' work and perseverance were summed up. The finances that each team tried to earn were calculated and the winning team was determined, which was a team consisting of second-year graduates of the specialty 076 Entrepreneurship and trade: Tymofii Zakutnii, Serhii Gal, Elyzaveta Tereshchenko and Serhii Atamanenko.

  

As a result of conducting this business game, the winners learned how to form effective teams, choose a leader, evaluate individual and group activities, and also acquired such skills as:

  • ability to create and find ways to solve problems;
  • the ability to communicate with a team (group), present your arguments and defend your own opinion;
  • the ability to enter a certain role, adapt to it and perform;
  • the ability to navigate the roles of other team members and actively communicate.

Also during the game, the participants discussed good and imperfect business practices, and the role of business in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
