By prior arrangement with the centre’s administration, the students were able to see two exhibitions. First, the students visited the exhibition of the famous Ukrainian artist – “Olexandr Roitburt. Power Theory”.

“The topic of power is extremely relevant in today’s world. Russia’s war against Ukraine has become a frontline in the confrontation between dictatorship and democracy. Another global challenge is populism. Olexandr Roitburd believed in the educational project and the ability of civil society to defend universal values. And he saw uncontrolled power as a threat both to rights and freedoms and to the government itself”, according to the exhibition curator Kostiantyn Doroshenko on the official website of the Pinchuk Art Centre.

Then the students visited the international group exhibition “I am with you”, 15 well-known young artists from Ukraine, Mexico, Turkey, India, Belgium, France, Denmark and the USA. “The international group exhibition “I am with you” is about the ability to empathise with human tragedies that unfold against the backdrop of landscapes but the ravaged land eventually blossoms with sprouts of hope” – from the official website of the Pinchuk Art Centre.

These projects include about 50 authentic exhibits, including not only paintings, video and audio installations but also art spaces that interact with the audience, such as the work of Indian artist Shilpa Gupta “For, In Your Tongue, I Can Not Fit” (courtesy of the Voorlinden Museum, Wassenaar, the Netherlands), 2017-2018 (speakers, microphones, printed text and metal stands), which addresses the issue of murdered poets.

By immersing yourself in a space where poetry is heard in different languages, you get into the philosophy of poetic lines, and this is a completely different language of art, it is built on the complementarity and interaction of different art possibilities, so we think it is important for modern youth studying creative specialities at KNUTD to promote a broad understanding of contemporary world art and its possibilities and tasks.
