Scientific and pedagogical staff of the Department of Philology and Translation of KNUTD are implementing an international program of academic credit mobility for the students of higher education of Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design and Baku Slavic University. As part of the “Ukrainian and English language practice: trip to Ukraine” program, on May 7, 2024, PhD in Philology, Associate Professor, Associate Professor of the Department of Philology and Translation of KNUTD Svitlana Dvorianchykova gave an integrated lecture “Ukraine sincerely invites you». The participants of the educational programs “Translation (Azerbaijani-Ukrainian)” and “Regional Studies (Ukraine)” of Baku Slavic University joined the event.
Svitlana Dvorianchykova started the conversation with the students, whose future professions will be related to Ukraine and the Ukrainian language, by providing general information about the origin of the name of our country, about Ukrainian as the state language, as well as about the flag, coat of arms. The applicants learned in details about the geographical location of Ukraine and its climatic conditions, the leading branches of the Ukrainian economy and the most famous sights of our country.
The lecturer spoke about Ukraine’s participation in international organizations, the policy of good neighborliness and the European vector of our country’s development, the heroic struggle of Ukrainians for freedom and independence.
The applicants got acquainted with Ukrainian megacities, learning a lot of interesting facts about Kyiv, Kharkiv, Odesa and Dnipro.
Azerbaijani students looked at pictures of the Dnipro, the largest navigable river in Ukraine, a symbol of the invincibility and glory of the Ukrainian land. The audience was also interested in the world’s largest and most powerful An-225 “Mriya” aircraft. Photos of St. Sophia’s Cathedral, Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, the historical center of Lviv, Freedom Square in Kharkiv did not leave anyone indifferent. The students had the opportunity to communicate in Ukrainian and asked numerous questions about Ukraine and Ukrainians, to which the lecturer answered.
At the end of the meeting, Svitlana Dvorianchykova offered the students of Baku Slavic University to take a test to control the level of knowledge gained and assimilation of the material studied.
