At the Faculty of Design of KNUTD, lectures by leading practitioners are regularly held for students under the educational programs in the specialty 022 "Design". On May 15, 2024, one such meeting took place – a lecture by graphic designer Ivan Tsanko for students of the Faculty of Design.
Ivan Tsanko is a graduate of the Faculty of Design, owner of a graphic design studio, graphic and font designer, interface designer. Ivan is actively engaged in fonts, forms the graphics of the Ukrainian Cyrillic alphabet, looks for new forms and meanings for it that will meet the challenges of the times; he participated in the development of exclusive fonts for MacPaw – one of the largest Ukrainian application companies.
The lecture was attended by students of the educational programs "Graphic Design", "Fashion Design", "Multimedia Design", the first (bachelor's) level of higher education, as well as the educational programs "Design (by types)", "Fashion Design", "Environmental Design», second (master's) levels of higher education.
During the event, the students heard directly from the author about the features of the Tsankotype font library, which contains a collection of experimental unique fonts. These fonts are used in the work of such platforms as: Forbes, Readelion, Povrnys zhivim, Jul, Privatbank, Vovki DaVinci, Khvylovy, Kulturny desant, DIYA Samit, "Kowalska", "Lviv Chocolate Workshop" and many others.
In the discussion that arose as a result of the highlighted information, not only students, but also teachers of the Faculty of Design took part: Nataliia Chuprina, Professor, guarantor of the educational program "Graphic Design" and Olena Vasylieva, Associate Professor, guarantor of the educational program "Multimedia Design" of the first (bachelor's) level of higher education; Yevgen Gula, Professor, head of the Department of Graphic Design and teachers of the Department of Graphic Design Mykhailo Rudenko and Oleksandr Vasyliev.
In the process of communication, further directions of communication and cooperation with the designer Ivan Tsanko as a stakeholder and member of the working group for the development and improvement of the "Graphic Design" educational program of the first (bachelor's) level of higher education were agreed upon.
