POST-RELEASE OF 6th ISE SATELLITE STUDENT REGIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON ELECTROCHEMISTRY “PROMISING MATERIALS AND PROCESSES IN APPLIED ELECTROCHEMISTRY”

On May 22, 2024, the 6th ISE Satellite Student Regional Symposium on Electrochemistry “Promising Materials and Processes in Applied Electrochemistry” was held according to the Order of the Rector of KNUTD No. 130, dated April 23, 2024.

The purpose of the Symposium was to promote the establishment and strengthening of scientific contacts and discussions between scientists and students representing various areas of technical electrochemistry and related fields.

The organizers of the Symposium were the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design, National Technical University of Ukraine "Ihor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute". The symposium was supported by the International Electrochemical Society (ISE).

The event was held in a hybrid format. Remote work of the Symposium was provided on the ZOOM platform.

The Symposium was moderated by Volodymyr KHOMENKO, Assoc. Prof. of the Department of Chemical Technologies and Resource Saving, Doctor of Technical Sciences, National Secretary of Ukraine at the International Society of Electrochemistry, who opened the Symposium and, congratulating everyone on the start of work, gave the floor to the Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation of KNUTD, Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor Liudmyla HANUSHCHAK-YEFIMENKO. On behalf of the Rector of KNUTD, Professor Ivan GRYSCHENKO, she conveyed his words of congratulations to the participants of the Symposium; highly appreciated the contribution of young people to the development of science at KNUTD; noted Volodymyr KHOMENKO's successes in international activities.

The Dean of the Faculty of Chemical and Biopharmaceutical Technologies of KNUTD, Dr. habil. in Education, PhD in Chemistry, Professor Tetiana DERKACH and the Head of the Department of Chemical Technologies and Resource Saving of KNUTD, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Viktoriia PLAVAN joined in the congratulations and parting words.

The topics of the Symposium:

  1. Electrochemical power sources
  2. Electrodeposition and corrosion protection
  3. Electrochemical sensors and biosensors
  4. Composite materials for a specific application
  5. Modern electrochemical and related technologies

The Symposium was attended by scientists from Ukraine, in particular from Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design, National Technical University of Ukraine «Ihor Sikorskyi Kyiv Polytechnic Institute», Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University,  National Technical University «Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute», Lviv Polytechnic National University,    Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies, Kharkiv National Automobile and Highway University National University of Civil Defence of Ukraine (Kharkiv), O.M. Beketov National University of Urban Economy in Kharkiv,  Institute of Sorption and Endoecology Problems,  E.O. Paton Electric Welding Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Institute of Geotechnical Mechanics NAS of Ukraine, V.I. Vernadskii Institute of General and Inorganic Chemistry of the Ukrainian NAS, Joint Department оf Electrochemical Energy Systems оf NAS оf Ukraine, The Institute of Transport Systems and Technologies of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. The Symposium was also joined by the foreign colleagues, represented by Ss. Cyril and Methodius University (Skopje, North Macedonia), Alma Matter Studiorum-University of Bologna (Bologna, Italy), Nanomaterials Department Commissariat for Atomic Energy and Alternative Energy Technologies and the National Center for Scientific Research (CIA-CNRS) of the University of Paris- Saclay (France), Research Group for the Development of Lithium-ion Batteries of the Materials for Energy Department of the Materials for Energy Center (CIDETEC) (San Sebastian, Spain), University of New York (New York, USA), Institute of Non-Ferrous Metals Poznań Division (Poznan, Poland), Innovation for Energy Efficiency Project Manager, RINA Consulting S.p.A. (Italy).

More than 150 people from seven countries took part in the Symposium. There were 14 plenary presentations and 44 posters or short speeches.

Based on the results of the Symposium, the Symposium Proceedings are being prepared for publication, and abstracts and articles of a scientific and technological nature are recommended for publication. The best materials science reports of the Symposium can be published as articles in the journal “IOP Conference Series: Materials Science and Engineering”, indexed in the Scopus database.

The 6th ISE Satellite Student Regional Symposium on Electrochemistry “Promising Materials and Processes in Applied Electrochemistry” was held at a high scientific, organisational and practical level, the presented reports were distinguished by their informative content, significant research novelty and practical implementation.

We wish the participants of the Symposium scientific inspiration, the desire to show their abilities and never stop there!
