On May 25, 2024, the final of the XXIV International Competition of Young Designers "Pecherski Kashtany" took place. The creative concept and motto of this year's competition is "Exquisite Technologies: Fashion, Design, Development".
Founded in 1955, the Competition was called "Chintz Ball", eventually turning into the Competition of Young Designers "Pecherski Kashtany", and in 2001 it received the status of an International Competition - this year the Competition celebrated its 69th anniversary!
On the eve of its remarkable anniversary, despite the challenges of our time, the University does not lose its professionalism, applying creativity and innovation in its education. Today's students are taking over the baton from the graduates of previous years, who are already masters who determine future fashion trends. Thousands of young designers started their professional careers with the Competition “Pecherski Kashtany”, which was and still is the first step into the "adult" world of fashion, beauty and design.
The Competition “Pecherski Kashtany”, founded and organized by Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design with the support of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, traditionally brings together young designers and fashion professionals from around the world. This year, more than 250 designers from Ukraine, China, Georgia, Romania, Moldova, Great Britain, and Latvia took part in the competition. Jury members from Germany, Italy, the United States, Albania, Belgium, Moldova, Romania, Latvia, and Ukraine took part in the evaluation of the works. In total, about 300 works were submitted to the Competition. The talented young people were caught in a whirlwind of extraordinary events – warm communication and exchange of experience, preparation for the final fashion show, and waiting for the results. This will always remain behind the scenes and in the memory of young artists as one of the brightest starts of their professional careers.
Ivan Gryshchenko, President of the Сompetition, Rector of the University, Doctor of Economics, Professor, Academician of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine, winner of the State Prize of Ukraine in Science and Technology, Honored Worker of Education of Ukraine, delivered a welcoming speech on the occasion of the opening of the final stage of the Сompetition.
The most valuable thing about the Competition is the opportunity for young people to communicate creatively with the leading creators of modern fashion, share cultural and national traditions with young designers from around the world, and establish friendly relations for future cooperation. The awarding of emerging designers in the field of clothing, footwear, accessories, and textiles makes it possible to introduce the work of young professionals to potential employers, which undoubtedly expands the employment opportunities for young people.
Among the invited honored guests of this year's International Competition “Pecherski Kashtany” were: Anna Kutsenko and Yevhen Samoilenko, representatives of the Directorate of the Department of Culture of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration, Viktor Lishchuk, Deputy Chairman of the Supervisory Board of KNUTD, Iryna Danylevska, founder of Ukraine Fashion Week, Viacheslav Diudenko, Ukrainian leading stylist, Liudmyla Ivanova, Director of DANA-MODA LLC, Golda Vinogradska, designer, Head of the National Industry Partnership Fashion Globus Ukraine, Andrii Prokhorovskyi, Director of RA.DA, and other distinguished guests and partners of the University.
The moderator of the Competition is Maryna Kolosnichenko, Director of the Student Center for Fashion, Creative Ideas and Creativity, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, winner of the State Prize of Ukraine in Science and Technology.

The works were evaluated in several stages by leading international and Ukrainian fashion and design experts. Chairman of the Competition jury was Ivan Frolov, designer, founder of the fashion brand FROLOV.

The Grand Prix in the "Clothes. PRET-A-PORTER DE LUXE" Competition was awarded to Elina Baltace, "GUMMO" collection.
The Grand Prix in the “Footwear and Accessories” nomination was awarded to Yelena Morgoch, “ANTHROPOMETRY AND FUNDAMENTALS OF BIOMECHANICS” collection.
Rector of KNUTD Ivan Gryshchenko solemnly presented diplomas to all the winners and congratulated everyone on their victory.
Special prizes were presented to the participants by Ivan Skorokhodov, representative of SOFTORG Company, Iryna Makhinko-Dumikh, director and artistic director of the i-CHEF branded clothing studio, Mykhailo Kucherenko, director of Surikat LLC, Svitlana Shestak, representative of Aligogroup Company, and Oleksiy Kraievsky, designer, training manager of the Guerlain perfume house, Svitlana Anosova, representative of PROMO-TEX Company, Viktor Lishchuk, representative of EKOTAPOK Company, Yana Malyka, co-owner of BBG (Banana Bunch Group), Tymofiy Lipsky, director of the Ukrainian trademark "LITINI", Bohdan Kass, designer, owner of the fashion brand KASS. Iryna Danylevska, founder of Ukraine Fashion Week, awarded one of the contestants with the opportunity to present her collection at Ukraine Fashion Week in the “New Names” nomination.
The final show of the Competition “Pecherski Kashtany” was simultaneously broadcast online, so partners, colleagues, and participants from all over the world could join the celebration of style, fashion, and beauty at our University.
