On May 25, 2024, KNUTD graduates visited the University for the "Meeting of Alumni of All the Generations".
Traditionally, every year, on the last Saturday of May, everyone who received an education at KNUTD has the opportunity to feel in the family circle of friends, to remember pleasant moments of student life, meet with youth, share experiences and successes.
With special trepidation and excitement, the University awaited the graduates of the jubilee years, who preserve continuity, traditions, friendly and business relations between the generations of KNUTD alumni.
This year, more than 40 graduates of different years and specialties met at Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design, in particular: graduates of the Faculty of Engineering and Economics of Groups IE-92 (graduation of 1984), IE-31 (1978) and IE-33 (1953 ); of the Faculty of Light Industry Technologies, specialty of Knitwear Production Technology of Group T-92 (1974) and group T-91 (1984), specialty of Sewing Technology of Group Sh-97 (1984), BT-99 (2004) and BSH-01 (2006); graduates of the Faculty of Mechanics, specialty Mechanical Engineer, Group M-92 (1984).
On behalf of the Rector of the University, Ivan Gryshchenko, Doctor of Economics, Professor, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Vice-Rector Volodymyr Statsenko and representatives of all the faculties and institutes of the University welcomed the graduates to their native alma mater. The event began with an inspection of KNUTD art objects located on the territory near the academic buildings. In particular, among the meaningful and creative art objects of the University: "The Tree of Inspiration in Beauty and Design", opened on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the University, which is a four-petal three-dimensional construction with four ribs-arches of a geometric and, at the same time, free form, which embodies the traditional for Europeans symbolism of the solar wheel, the energy of life, the model of the world structure: "Monument to Kozhumiak", created for the 30th anniversary of Ukraine's Independence and the establishment of Ukrainian Statehood Day. According to the legend, Kozhumiak was a craftsman who, during the time of the Kyivan State, was engaged in the production of raw materials from animal skins. Such leather was used for sheathing shields, sewing clothes, shoes, etc. Currently, Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design provides training of specialists for this profession, giving them knowledge and skills to solve practical tasks, in particular at enterprises of the chemical, leather, textile industry and related fields of chemical technology and engineering.
Art object "Know the invisible from the visible" - the central image of which is a butterfly, which symbolizes the ability to change and abandon one's own and general stereotypes. This becomes possible thanks to systematic observation of the colorful world that surrounds us, painstaking analysis of the phenomena happening around, practical experience, and most importantly - love for art, knowledge, the work you do!
Further, the program of the meeting included visits to the museums and the newest laboratories of the University.
According to tradition, the first graduates are greeted by the Museum of Embroidery, stylized as a Ukrainian house. The exhibition conveys the values of Ukrainian culture of different historical eras, inspires, surprises, and unites. This is exactly the idea of Rector Ivan Gryshchenko that has been implemented in this location, in the center of culture, where students, guests, and employees can familiarize themselves with the history of our state, touch authentic things, get positive energy and inspiration for new creative projects.
At the same time, the festive and homely atmosphere of the museum enchanted the graduates. An interesting excursion for the participants was prepared by Tetiana Bukoros, director of the Scientific and Technical Library, Candidate of Political Sciences, Associate Professor. During the excursion, Tetiana Oleksandrivna told about bright Krolevets rushnyks, collections of home-made embroidered towels, dolls, knitted towels, tableware, vytynankas, and works by student creative teams.
The guests of the museum willingly took commemorative photos next to the museum exhibits, and also unfurled the 7.2 m long "Unity Towel" with artistic embroidery ornaments from all regions and ethnographic zones of Ukraine, in this way graduates of all generations united in faith in the strength of spirit and courage of Ukrainians. After all, this gives all of us, who identify ourselves as Ukrainians, the opportunity to be on the same page!
Then the graduates were shown the developments of young researchers and students who actively use modern 2D and 3D technologies to design machine parts, new models of shoes and clothes, leather goods and other products in the training and research laboratories: software engineering, the history of the sewing machine, shoe design and haberdashery, sewing technologies in the Softorg fashion industry, leather and fur expertise, molecular pharmacology, chemogenomics and biogerontology, new materials and processes in electrochemical energy etc.
The energy of development, the aesthetics of educational spaces demonstrated to the guests the daily life of a modern University, where classics and innovations are combined. And the slogan ‘The past also teaches’ mentioned by Oleksii Volianyk, Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, PhD, Associate Professor, during the tour in the Sewing Machine History Laboratory confirms this.
Ruslana Mnozhynska, Candidate of Philosophical Sciences, Associate Professor, director of the museum, met the graduates with a tour near the Museum of the History of KNUTD Development, and presented, in addition to the exhibits of the permanent exhibition, creative works of KNUTD students, collections that are displayed as part of the International Competition of Young Fashion Designers "Pecherski Kashtany", the final of which was taking place right now at the University.

The graduates also visited the new modern space of the University's scientific and technical library, recalling the hours they spent studying textbooks in spacious reading rooms, noting that, in their opinion, the University has become even more interesting for students.
We took many pictures together, looked through graduation albums, talked in a relaxed atmosphere, considered the possibilities of further effective communications with the alumni community to promote the KNUTD brand, and planned meetings for the next year.
The guests gratefully mentioned their mentors, academic supervisors, teachers, expressing the opinion that the University in its activities and planning sets a high bar for development and shows a convincing example of real changes.
We were able to organize a meeting of this format thanks to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which defend our freedom and independence for all the generations. We are proud and grateful for the courage and dedication of KNUTD graduates who defend Ukraine today and remember those who gave their lives for our opportunity to live on their land.
Eternal glory to the Heroes!
