Scientific and pedagogical staff of the Department of Philology and Translation of the Institute of Law and Modern Technologies of KNUTD are working on the implementation of the international program of academic credit mobility in a remote online format for the students of Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design and Baku Slavic University. Within the framework of the mentioned program, on May 29, 2024, a joint lecture “The formula of the soul of Eastern poetry. Novruz is a spring holiday” by Doctor of Philology, Professor of the Department of Slavic Philology of Baku Slavic University Rafig Novruzov and Senior Lecturer of the Department of Slavic Philology, Director of the Ukrainian Cultural and Educational Center of Baku Slavic University Lesya Karimova, was held.

The meeting was attended by students of the educational programs “English language: translation in business communications” (specialty 035 Philology), “Ukrainian language and literature and English philological studies” (specialty 014 Secondary education), “Economic and legal activity” (specialty 081 Law) and “Political science and public communications” (specialty 052 Politology) of the Institute of Law and Modern Technologies. The event was moderated by the Head of the Department of Philology and Translation, PhD in Philology, Associate Professor Yelizaveta Isakova and Associate Professor of the Department of Philology and Translation, PhD in Philology, Associate Professor Svitlana Dvorianchykova.

The poetry of the East exquisitely tenderly and passionately sings of love and friendship, courage and justice, patriotism, native language and creativity. Rafig Novruzov started a lecture about the fabulous and wonderful world of Eastern poetry. Literary experts consider the poetry of the East to be a golden page in the book of world literature. The artists, including Nizami Ganjavi and Imadedin Nasimi, worked on the philosophical depth of the works and various genre forms.

Nizami Ganjavi called for dignity, happiness, peace and friendship: “О цвіт життя, гіркий кохання цвіт, / – Стражданням ущасливлюється світ!”

Imadeddin Nasimi, a famous poet of antiquity and an outstanding thinker of the East, was in search of the sense of life and longed for freedom and justice: “У мене вмістяться обидва світи, але в цей світ я не вміщусь”.

The lecturer noted that the creative work of artists is studied by scientists, and the lyrics of Eastern poets have been translated into many languages of the world, including Ukrainian. In these poems, readers find answers to actual questions of our time, enjoy the depth of meaning and filigree of the artistic word.

Lesya Karimova continued communication with the applicants. The students were interested to hear about the national Azerbaijani traditions of celebrating Novruz. This beautiful holiday symbolizes the renewal of nature and the continuation of life. The lecturer emphasized that Novruz was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List as a symbol of wisdom, hope and tolerance. During the celebration, Azerbaijani housewives put a sprouted wheat grain on the table and paint eggs on the mirror, and the whole family jumps over the bonfire for purification and protection in the next year. Pilaf, prepared according to traditional recipes, and delicious Azerbaijani sweets are considered the main dishes of the festive feast.

Listeners noted that the traditions of Azerbaijani and Ukrainian holidays intertwine and echo, which is the evidence of the commonwealth of Ukrainian and Azerbaijani peoples and the mutual enrichment of the two cultures.

At the end of the meeting, the lecturers invited the students to complete the developed tasks to control the level of acquired knowledge and assimilation of the studied material.

Yelizaveta Isakova and Svitlana Dvorianchykova discussed with their Azerbaijani philologist colleagues the main results of a joint educational and scientific project, which they implemented within the framework of the current international academic credit mobility program for students of KNUTD and BSU.

We sincerely thank Rafig Novruzov, Lesya Karimova and all colleagues from Baku Slavic University for friendship and cooperation!
