At the start of the new academic year on August 21, 2024, Olena Stepanova, Professor, Doctor of Cultural Studies, and Director of the Center for Quality Management in Educational Activities, delivered a lecture titled “Principles of Academic Integrity for Students of Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design” to first-year undergraduate students from the Departments of Costume and Fashion Design, Interior and Furniture Design, Multimedia Design, and Graphic Design at the Faculty of Design. 

During the lecture, Professor Olena Anatoliivna provided students from the educational programs “Graphic Design”, “Fashion Design”, “Environmental Design”, and “Multimedia Design” with detailed information on the legislative foundations of the “Code of Academic Integrity of KNUTD”. The lecturer explained the key concepts of “academic integrity” and “academic plagiarism”, emphasizing the importance of understanding and adhering to these principles.

A significant aspect of the lecture was the emphasis on the fact that upholding academic integrity includes completing assignments independently, responsibly using information sources with mandatory citations, adhering to copyright laws, and providing truthful information about the results of their academic and research activities. Such an approach to education lays the foundation for successful professional development and is crucial for cultivating responsible citizens.

The lecture was also attended by the department heads and academic group supervisors from the Faculty of Design, including Oleksandra Shmelova-Nesterenko, Oleksandr Vasyliev, Halyna Kokorina, Iryna Davydenko, Serhii Lavrusenko, Oksana Maznichenko, Bohdan Tymofiienko, Oleksandr Krotevych, Margaryta Ivanova, and others. The discussion of academic integrity issues sparked significant interest, highlighting the importance and relevance of the topic for today’s students.
