The first week of autumn was rich and fruitful with scientific events for representatives of the Department of Fashion Technology of the Faculty of Arts and Fashion of the Kyiv National University of Technology and Design (KNUTD). From September 4 to 6, 2024, two significant events took place in Dresden (Germany): a regularly scheduled meeting of the Erasmus+ project working group “3D Fashion Concepts for Education in Ukraine” and the International Scientific Conference “Clotech 2024”.
On September 4 and 5, 2024, working meetings of the beneficiaries with the coordinator of the Erasmus+ project, ERASMUS-EDU-2023-CBHE-STRAND-2 “3D Fashion Concepts for Education in Ukraine” (3D4U), took place. Project participants from KNUTD Natalia Pervaia, Project Manager, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Professor of the Department of Fashion Technology, and Lilia Chertenko, Responsible Executive, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor, Associate Professor of the Department of Fashion Technology.
The host party, the project partner, is the Institute of Textile Engineering and High-Performance Materials Technology of the University of Technology Dresden, Department of Textile Development and Assembly Technology, a leading global research and education center in digital textile development.
Project Coordinator Everidiki Papachristou, a Professor at the International and Hellenic University, reported on implementing Work Package 1 on 3D4U project management, work plan, funding updates, and completed and ongoing work status.
The project partners, Gheorghe Asahi Technical University in Iași (Romania) and Khmelnytskyi National University reported on the implementation of work package 2, which analyzes the requirements and current level of the light industry in Ukraine.
Representatives of KNUTD, together with the project partner Lutsk National Technical University, provided information on the progress of work package 3 on capacity building and creation of 3D4U hubs, purchase of equipment for them, and creation of a collaboration platform - a cloud structure within the entire consortium, which will allow partners to quickly and conveniently communicate, exchange ideas, documents, training, and educational materials.
The project partner, NGO Fashion Globus Ukraine, has demonstrated progress in promoting and disseminating project ideas and results to stimulate the interest of fashion industry representatives in joint development towards the introduction of digital technologies.
On September 5 and 6, 2024, the 15th International Conference on Apparel Innovation «CLOTECH-2024» was held in Dresden, also attended by representatives of the 3D4U project. The conference program was full of relevant reports, presentations, and posters on topics that covered the peculiarities of implementing 3D and 4D technologies and artificial intelligence in the fashion industry, the role of Industry 4.0, digitalization in the progressive development of the industry, etc. Representatives of the 3D4U project also presented innovative research in the field of digital and additive technologies in the light industry.
We sincerely thank our German colleagues from the University of Technology Dresden for the excellent organization of the conference, which has become a platform for professional, meaningful communication between representatives of various sectors of the fashion industry and a platform for future joint projects that will contribute to the progressive development of the industry.
