Academic integrity is not just a set of rules, but a fundamental principle on which not only the educational process but also the development of the scientific community and society is based. As a part of the international ENAI community, KNUTD shares common values and strives to ensure the highest standards of academic integrity.
It is with the aim of forming a culture of academic integrity among first-year students of the Faculty of Management and Business Design on September 12, 2024, Professor, Doctor of Cultural Studies, Head of the Center for Quality Management of Educational Activities of KNUTD Olena Stepanova, provided a lecture on “Academic Integrity in the Educational Process and Research”.
The lecture was devoted to a comprehensive analysis of the current problem of academic integrity in the modern educational space. During the lecture, the principles of academic integrity among higher education students in the context of research, were discussed in detail. The main types of violations of academic integrity were analyzed and effective methods of their prevention were proposed. Particular attention was paid to the development of such key competencies as critical thinking, the ability to conduct independent research, responsible attitude to intellectual property, and the ability to cite sources correctly.
The issues of the lecture were considered with reference to the relevant documents of the regulatory framework of the Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design on academic integrity, namely:
1. Program of Academic Integrity of KNUTD
2. Regulations on the prevention and detection of academic plagiarism in scientific works at the Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design
The lecture was the next step in the implementation of a large-scale program of the Center for Educational Quality Management of KNUTD aimed at improving the level of academic integrity at the Faculty of Management and Business Design. The event has become one of the key elements of systematic work with students and academic staff aimed at creating a culture of academic integrity in the university environment.
