On 12 September 2024, a meeting of the heads of academic groups of the Faculty of Design was held. The event was organised by Kalyna Pashkevych, Dean of the Faculty of Design, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, and Oleksandr Vasyliev, Deputy Dean for Educational Work, Assistant of the Department of Graphic Design.
The purpose of the meeting was to discuss key issues related to the organisation of education, activation of student self-government and improvement of communication between students, teachers and faculty. The meeting was attended by Natalia Chuprina, Head of the Department of Art and Costume Design, Doctor of Arts, Professor, Danylo Kosenko, Head of the Department of Interior and Furniture Design, Candidate of Arts, Olga Semenenko, Head of the Trade Union Committee, and Daria Karpenko, Head of the Student Self-Government of the Faculty of Design, Heads of Academic Groups of the educational programmes «Fashion Design», «Environmental Design», «Graphic Design», «Multimedia Design», «Design (by Type)» of the first (bachelor»s) and second (master»s) levels of higher education.
The meeting addressed a number of issues, including student attendance, general discipline, and the participation of students in the social, cultural and sports life of the university. Considerable attention was paid to the organisation of various cultural, educational and national-patriotic events, and the issue of academic integrity was discussed. The importance of ensuring friendly relations in groups, supporting each other in difficult wartime, timely resolution of conflict situations and taking care of one's own mental health was emphasised.
The Dean of the Faculty Kalyna Pashkevych started the meeting with a discussion of topical issues related to the educational process. She focused on the importance of timely implementation of the curriculum, active participation of students in research activities and compliance with discipline during the educational process and in dormitories. The Dean also emphasised the key role of the elders in maintaining order in groups and communication between students, teachers and management, noting that elders are important mediators in resolving organisational issues. The need for a responsible attitude to the education of higher education students, regardless of the form of study, and the strict implementation of safety instructions was emphasised.
The Deputy Dean Oleksandr Vasyliev reminded the group leaders of the rules of conduct and the sequence of actions of students after the air alert was announced. He emphasised the importance of artistic and aesthetic education of young people and the need to form the national identity of higher education students, in particular through visits to exhibitions, museums and theatres, open lectures organised at the university and beyond; involvement of students in volunteering, participation in charity events, in the scientific, cultural, artistic and sports life of the university. Oleksandr Vasyliev stressed the importance of active involvement of students in volunteering, various clubs and sports sections that contribute to personal development. The participants of the meeting supported the appointment of student tutors for first-year groups from among senior students.
Anastasia Ivanchykina, Polina Kvyatkovska, Kateryna Shovkun, Viktoriia Stepanets, Anzhelika Kostina and others, heads of academic groups of the Faculty of Design, received answers to questions about the responsibilities of the head of the academic group, the specifics of organising student education in the academic year 2024-2025, and the need to control the connection of students to the modular environment of the educational process and the electronic journal.
Darya Karpenko, head of the student self-government of the Faculty of Design, who was present at the meeting, told the group leaders how to fill in the academic group's record books and journal, and she invited delegates from the groups to participate in the annual meeting of the university's student self-government.
