On September 7, 2024, the "Princely Family" festival was held on the territory of the National Conservation Area "Sofia Kyivska", in which students of the Department of Art and Fashion Design took part. The initiators of the event were the historical reconstruction and martial arts clubs of Kyiv – an active and creative part of the Ukrainian cultural community. Many members of historical clubs today defend our country at the front but they actively supported the idea of holding the festival as an important event designed to emotionally support Ukrainians in difficult times.
The Faculty of Design has been cooperating with the National Sanctuary Complex "Sofia Kyivska" for many years, joint events include exhibitions, plein airs, and master classes. Therefore, participation in a costume show, arranged for those interested in history and fashion, became one of such joint creative activities for university students.
The selection of costumes from the collection of historical clothing of the Department of Art and Fashion Design and the development of the script took place with the active participation of assistant professors Halyna Kokorina and Iryna Davydenko. Demonstration of costumes, participation in a master class on ancient dance, and a photo session were held on a common site with the Rarog historical reconstruction club, with the participation of project curator Nadiia Vasylieva and a representative from the Complex management, Olha Pankiv. Reconstruction costumes aroused keen interest of visitors and participants of the event.
The students of KNUTD demonstrated the ability to act in a single team and received extremely positive emotions!
We sincerely thank the organizers of the festival and hope for further cooperation!
