On 19 September, the initiation ceremony of the 2024 freshmen took place in the academic lecture hall of the Changqing campus of the Kyiv College at Qilu University of Technology (China). The event was attended by Rector Duan Peiyong, Secretary of the Party Committee of Qilu University of Technology Wu Yantao and Ivan Gryshchenko, Rector of Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design. The ceremony was attended by students, as well as the academic staff, heads of departments and teachers of Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design.

Before the ceremony, Wu Yantao, Secretary of Qilu University, met with Ivan Gryshchenko, greeted him and thanked him for his visit, and briefed him on the University’s new achievements in learning management cooperation. Wu Yantao noted that the University attaches great importance to cooperation with Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design. The cooperation between the two higher education institutions not only promotes academic exchanges, but also mutual cultural recognition and strengthening of friendship between the two peoples. “We hope that the two sides will further expand the exchange of scholars and open a new page in the field of foreign exchanges and cooperation in higher education”, said the Chinese colleague.

Rector of KNUTD Ivan Gryshchenko stressed that Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design highly appreciates the long-term cooperation between the two universities, that Ukrainian lecturers come to China to teach students, and assured of his unwavering determination and positive attitude to expanding and deepening international educational exchanges.

At the ceremony, Duan Peiyong, Rector of Qilu University, also welcomed the participants. He set four ambitious goals for the freshmen: first, they have high ambitions that define high ideals, and they take on the honourable responsibility for national revival and should become the best representatives of young people in the new era. Secondly, to study hard, hone exemplary skills, constantly improve professional literacy and versatile abilities, as well as develop innovative thinking and self-improvement. Thirdly, I hope that you will build character, follow the rules, respect multiculturalism, unite and help each other, and work together to create a harmonious and civilised campus. Fourthly, to boldly innovate, take responsibility, challenge authority, break traditions, actively learn new knowledge, and contribute your knowledge and skills to social progress.

Ivan Gryshchenko also addressed the participants of the solemn meeting. He stressed that Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design sincerely appreciates the friendship and cooperation with Qilu University of Technology (Shandong Academy of Sciences) and expressed hope that both parties will be able to further expand the scope for cooperation in the future, as well as contribute to the innovation and development of higher education. This year, 222 bachelors and 40 masters entered the joint college. At the same time, Ivan Gryshchenko urged the freshmen to value time, study hard, make their dreams come true and make their own special contribution to the progress of the future.

Other speakers at the ceremony included Zhang Feifei, a teacher at the College, Ji Xinping, a representative of the teaching staff, and Feng Zichen, a representative of the first-year students.

Chu Fuxiang, Director of the Kyiv College, welcomed the students and expressed his hope that they would maintain their dedication and faith, value their time spent studying, take care of their families, be brave and independent, and unite China and foreign countries and work together. Promising young people will write their own remarkable chapter.

On the occasion of the birthdays of four freshmen of the Kyiv College, Wu Yantao, Duan Peiyong and Ivan Gryshchenko cut the cake, and all the participants of the event sang festive songs together. Thus, a new page of incredibly interesting student life at the Kyiv College at Qilu University of Technology was solemnly opened.

The first-year students and teachers of the Kyiv College at Qilu University of Technology exuded hope, confidence, joy, pride and responsibility to be members of Qilu University of Technology (Shandong Academy of Sciences).
