On September 26, 2024, in order to improve the quality of the educational process, the Department of Digital Art of the Institute of Culture and Arts organized a public lecture and master class by the famous Ukrainian graphic artist Vasyl Chebanyk for students majoring in Digital Art, Graphic Design and all connoisseurs of Ukrainian fine arts. The meeting was organized and moderated by Olesia Rybchenko, Associate Professor of the Department of Digital Art.
V. Chebanyk, Honored Artist of Ukraine, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Arts of Ukraine, Professor, Laureate of the Taras Shevchenko National Prize of Ukraine, gave a lecture and master class for students of creative specialties, presenting and popularizing a unified holistic system of historically restored graphemes (constructions) of Ukrainian letters and fonts of the National Alphabet project “Ruthenia. Graphics of the Ukrainian Language” project, authored by him.
This project is the only one in the field of font art that has been awarded the highest state creative award for a significant contribution to the development of culture and art in Ukraine – the Taras Shevchenko National Prize of Ukraine. The goal of the project is to create a visual image of the Ukrainian language based on the historically existing Ruthenian letters and return the state of Ukraine its visual symbol, the National Alphabet.
The lecture was supported by the InfoVarta public initiative, whose official representative at the event was co-founder and calligrapher Anzhelika Korniienko, head of the project “Ruthenia. Ukrainian Language Graphics” project.
The event was also joined by the academic staff of the Department of Digital Art and Graphic Design for the purpose of professional development and competence expansion. The event was held in a friendly atmosphere, the students had the opportunity to communicate with lecturers Vasyl Chebanyk and Anzhelika Korniienko, gaining significant experience and knowledge that can be applied in further education and creative activities. Indeed, the involvement of practitioners is a significant positive lever for the development of future professionals in culture and art, an important aspect of the process of teaching and upbringing of young people, which will encourage students to study the cultural and historical heritage of Ukraine in depth.
We sincerely thank Vasyl Chebanyk for an extremely informative lecture, an unsurpassed master class and the opportunity to learn from the best!
