On the last day of September, second-year students of the Digital Art program opened an exhibition of folk icon replicas on glass at the Scientific and Technical Library. The event, dedicated to the Day of Defenders of Ukraine and the Feast of the Intercession, became a unique occasion that blended spirituality and art. The project was curated by Uliana Balan, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Digital Art.
The students created a series of vibrant icons, following the traditions of folk glass painting. Throughout the process, they explored the interaction of color contrasts, characteristic of folk painting. Uliana Balan shared with the participants the history of this art form, its techniques, and its distribution.
Each student-artist presented their work, sharing the story of the chosen saint and its iconography. This project is an important contribution to the preservation and development of Ukrainian folk art traditions. During their work, the students gained deeper insight into the techniques of glass painting, allowing them to connect with a significant layer of folk art and make today a truly festive day at the library.
Congratulations on Defender's Day, the Feast of the Intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and Ukrainian Cossacks Day!
