On September 26, 2024, students of the Department of Graphic Design, as part of the study of the discipline «Fonts and Typography», attended a lecture by the famous Ukrainian graphic artist Vasyl Chebanik, Honoured Artist of Ukraine, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Arts of Ukraine, Professor, Laureate of the Taras Shevchenko National Prize of Ukraine.

The students of the first (bachelor's) and second (master's) levels of the study programme «Graphic Design» and the study programme «Design (by type)» together with the Head of the Department of Graphic Design Ruslana Bezuhla, teachers Sviatoslav Podlevskyi, Oksana Maznichenko, Oleksandr Krotevych, Yelyzaveta Derevianko listened to a lecture and attended a master class by the legend of Ukrainian graphic design Vasyl Chebanik. 

Students and teachers had the opportunity to get acquainted with the work of the famous graphic artist, who is the author of the Ukrainian alphabet Ruthenia. The students learned about the history of each letter in his alphabet, how the font was created by the famous Ukrainian artist, and how it differs from the imperial alphabet. The lecture raised important questions about the Ukrainian nation, where the written language first appeared and why it is worth switching to a purely Ukrainian alphabet.

The lecture was organised by the Department of Digital Art of KNUTD, in particular, Associate Professor Olesia Rybchenko. The students and teachers of the Department of Graphic Design express their sincere gratitude to their colleagues for an interesting and informative meeting!
