Recently, as part of an international academic mobility program, Maria Kravchuk, a postgraduate student from the Department of Fashion Technology at the Faculty of Arts and Fashion, who is studying under the educational and scientific program 182 Consumer Industry Technologies, participated in the 2024 online summer school hosted by the Technical University of Liberec (Czech Republic). The summer school focused on textile technologies and aimed to explain the process of producing woven and knitted fabrics, from concept to final production. The training program allowed participants to specialize in woven or knitted fabric structures.

The school mainly focused on two textile technologies: weaving and knitting. Participants were introduced to general industrial production processes, used industrial equipment, and worked with CAD systems to prepare fabric designs and knitted structure patterns.

During the training, participants learned how to design 2D/3D structures, work with SDS ONE APEX and CAD software, and had the opportunity to observe an online broadcast of the production process for the samples they created.

Upon completion of the program, each participant received a certificate for 5 ECTS credits for the course "Knitted Structure and Design" as recognition of informal education, as well as their own knitted fabric samples produced on Shima Seiki industrial flat-knitting machines according to their designs developed during the training.

"This school has become an important part of my education because the knowledge I gained about 2D/3D design and modern textile technologies is something I plan to use in my future career. I was impressed by the innovative approach to learning: the use of remote access to laboratories and the opportunity to create my own textile design, which was then produced on real equipment," Maria Kravchuk shares her impressions.
