One year has passed since the sudden loss and premature passing away of a reliable friend of our University, army general, two-time head of the Security Service of Ukraine, secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine and many other top government positions, Volodymyr Radchenko.

Life is like a long field: sometimes around the bend you will find something you never imagined and did not prepare for. We think this is how it happened in Volodymyr Radchenko’s professional career. He planned to become a chemist, but was offered to defend his homeland. And in a specific service.

But, you see, they will not offer a job to someone who does not have the potential, willingness and ability to learn new things. The graduate of KNUTD had all these qualities, as he went through a difficult path from lieutenant to general. Of course, thanks to his personal abilities and hard work. It is also due to the fact that at the University he acquired not only professional knowledge, but also the love of self-improvement taught and instilled in the future high-ranking official by his teachers.

The life example of Volodymyr Ivanovych is a confirmation of what students hear all the time: work daily and systematically. Learn not only professional disciplines, but also be interested in culture and art in order to be a comprehensively developed person. Volodymyr Radchenko was extremely disciplined, organized, purposeful, erudite and reliable...

Volodymyr Radchenko is a general. All graduates of the University will not wear the general’s epaulettes. But everyone must be a general in terms of knowledge and experience at the workplace, in aspirations and service to the Ukrainian people.

And one more thing that Volodymyr Radchenko’s life teaches us. Few words and consistent in his decisions and beliefs, Volodymyr believed that a real man should keep his word under any circumstances and learn all his life. In this age of rapid change, a university graduate must quickly adapt to new conditions. Not only as a hired employee, but also as an organiser of their professional activity and life. The University creates all the conditions for such training. Students should remember that only those who use it have a chance.

Today, at the height of the war, honoring the memory of our well-known alumnus-general, who, occupying high positions always stood for the protection of the interests of the state, we also lend a shoulder to our defenders in the defense of Ukraine. KNUTD representatives serve at the front. Products made using the technologies of the University employees help soldiers on land, in the air and on water. This is our direct contribution to defense. At the same time, the University carries out high-quality training of high-quality creative, technological, innovative, creative specialists for the post-war reconstruction and development of Ukraine in the future. This is and will be served by scientific developments and the training of specialists for many fields that will rebuild our state.

Therefore, the best way to remember and honour our graduate is in the things we do. We are proud of our graduate general. In addition, we have to do everything to ensure that KNUTD receives positive feedback about each graduate. As long as a person and his deeds are remembered, they say he lives...

As we honour Volodymyr Radchenko, let us imitate him in our service to the Ukrainian people and Ukraine, each in his place!
