On October 28, 2024, the Rector of the Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design, Academician Ivan Gryshchenko, in a solemn atmosphere opened a laboratory for training operators of drones at the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the Faculty of Mechatronics and Computer Technologies.

In his welcoming speech, Rector Ivan Gryshchenko noted that in the current conditions of war and the continuous development of technology, it is extremely important to create comfortable space for the multiplication of knowledge and skills among students. Renewal of material and technical support, a fresh look at trends in engineering and technology is an integral part of the policy of the Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design as an educational leader among the best technological universities in Ukraine.

Oleksii Volianyk, Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, noted that the creation of the educational space was preceded by the joint hard work of the department's staff and students, as young people are the main beneficiaries and the engine of progress. In addition to general engineering, students can improve their skills in working with unmanned aerial vehicles, namely the assembly, repair, and maintenance of UAVs. The laboratory also has training areas for FPV drone operators with specialized software and equipment, as well as visual materials and manuals from the Victory Drones project. Thanks to cooperation with partners, samples of SkyForce ZEUS and DJI FPV drones were obtained. Students of various specialties have the opportunity to study both as part of the Robotics scientific club (headed by Oleksandr Manoilenko) and individually under the guidance of experienced teachers.

The Dean of the Faculty of Mechatronics and Computer Technologies Borys Zlotenko noted that the laboratory for training operators of drones was created to fulfill the task of the university management and thanked for the support in the implementation of the initiatives of the Department of Mechanical Engineering for the development of technical education and innovations to strengthen the economy and defense capability, because with joint efforts we are bringing Victory closer!!
