Postgraduate studies are an effective means of improving the quality of the department's staff. The Faculty of Design has about 30 postgraduate students in the speciality 022 Design, some of whom are teachers of the faculty's departments. The component of the educational programme “Design” is the scientific and pedagogical practice that postgraduate students take on the basis of KNUTD and other Ukrainian universities: Lutsk National Technical University, Ivan Franko Zhytomyr State University, Ukrainian Humanitarian Institute, etc.
On October, 22, 2024, as part of the scientific and pedagogical practice of postgraduate students for bachelor's degree students of the EP Fashion Design, a lecture was given by Olehoslav Serbin, a postgraduate student of the Faculty of Design, on the topic ‘Transformational reconstruction in the design of modern clothing’.
During the lecture, Olehoslav Serbin, who has worked for many years in the experimental workshop of the BEVZA brand and is a certified practitioner of the TR-cutting (Transformation Reconstruction cutting) method by Shingo Sato, told the students about his own experience of studying with Shingo Sato during a face-to-face workshop in Kyiv and the method of transformational reconstruction, its relevance for designing modern clothing. He showed the students the basic tools and techniques of transformational reconstruction with examples of their application on sample models with design and technological features of further work in the manufacture of garments.
The lecture was held within the discipline ‘Artistic Modelling and Design of Clothing’ with the aim of expanding students' knowledge of modern methods of clothing modelling that can be used for creating author's collections and creative projects.
As part of scientific and pedagogical practice by graduate students Olehoslav Serbin and Anastasiya Yukhymchuk conducted practical classes in the discipline "Artistic modeling and design of clothes" under the guidance of experienced teachers of the department of art and costume design Iryna Davydenko, associate professor of the department and Maryna Yatsenko, candidate of technical sciences, associate professor.
During the practical work, the students got acquainted with various techniques of artistic modeling, developed by various authors, and practiced various modeling techniques.
Each student modelled the original design in full size, made patterns for the selected clothing model, refined the model features and checked the quality of the modelling in the mock-up.
Young teachers of the faculty, postgraduate students Yelyzaveta Derevianko, Natalia Ryshkevych, Lev Dubovenko, Nadiia Liuklian, Aurelia Kolesnikova, Maryna Maistrenko and others also undergo scientific and pedagogical practice at the Faculty of Design KNUTD: they teach classes, organise educational activities for students, and contribute to the preparation of methodological publications.
