RESULTS OF THE II INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION OF RESEARCH PAPERS FOF HIGHER EDUCATION SEEKERS

On October 25, 2024, the Final Scientific and Practical Conference of the II International Competition of Research Papers for Higher Education Seekers (hereinafter referred to as the Competition) was held on the basis of Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design with the support of the State Scientific Institution “Institute of Education Content Modernization” in three directions: “Art and Design”, “Fashion Industry” and “Public and Corporate Management”.

This year's Competition was attended by higher education students from all over the world: China, the United Kingdom, Austria, Serbia, Moldova, Kazakhstan, etc. Ukraine was represented by participants from 35 higher education institutions from different cities: Kyiv, Khmelnytskyi, Kharkiv, Lviv, Lutsk, Odesa, Cherkasy, Poltava, Mykolaiv, Zhytomyr, Kremenchuk, Ivano-Frankivsk, etc.

According to the Regulation, the Competition was held in two stages: at the first stage, two reviewers who were members of the Competition Committee studied the research papers; at the second stage, the Final Scientific and Practical Conference (hereinafter referred to as the Final Conference) was held, where the reports of the higher education seekers for the prizes were heard.

More than 65 research papers from 20 higher education institutions of Ukraine and the world (Great Britain, Moldova, Serbia, China, etc.) were submitted to the II International Competition of Research Papers for Higher Education Seekers by direction of Art and Design. The papers were reviewed by qualified specialists, doctors of art history, doctors of science, professors from around the world (Romania, Moldova, Great Britain, Latvia) and Ukraine (representatives of KNUTD and other Ukrainian higher education institutions).

The moderators of the “Art and Design” direction of the Competition were Kalyna Pashkevych, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Dean of the Faculty of Design and Secretary of the Competition Liudmyla Melnyk, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor, Associate Professor of the Department of Art and Fashion Design of KNUTD. The Final Conference by the direction of “Art and Design” featured reports of the authors of 25 research papers, which presented the results of students’ research in various areas of graphic design, environmental design, fashion design, etc.

Many papers were devoted to topical issues of Ukraine's post-war recovery, improving living conditions for people with disabilities, etc. The students were supervised by well-known design experts in Ukraine and abroad: Liliana Platon, PhD, Associate Professor, Angela Skripcenko, PhD, Associate Professor, Technical University of Moldova, Nadiia Bukhonka, PhD, Associate Professor, University of Novi Sad (Serbia), Kateryna Chrichlow, Lecturer, Natalia Rozhyn, Lecturer, Birmingham City University (UK), Nataliia Skliarenko, PhD, Professor, Yulia Bondarchuk, PhD, Associate Professor, Lutsk National Technical University, Inna Yakovets, PhD, Professor, Cherkasy State Technological University, Violetta Radomska, PhD, Associate Professor, Lviv Polytechnic National University, Liliia Gnatiuk, PhD in Architecture, Associate Professor, National Aviation University, Elvira Bazyliuk, PhD, Associate Professor, Viktoria Mytsa, PhD, Associate Professor, Khmelnytskyi National University, Tetiana Ivanenko, PhD, Associate Professor, Kharkiv State Academy of Design and Arts, Hanna Polietaieva, PhD, Associate Professor, Maria Artemenko, PhD, Associate Professor, Kherson National Technical University, Natalia Chuprina, Doctor of Arts, Professor, Tetyana Krotova, Doctor of Arts, Professor, Olena Kolosnichenko, Doctor of Arts, Professor, Ruslana Bezuhla, Doctor of Arts, Professor, Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design, and others.

Based on the results of the review of research papers, 9 prize-winning research papers were selected out among 37 papers to participate in the Final Scientific and Practical Conference of the II International Competition of Research Papers for Higher Education Seekers by direction of Fashion industry. These papers were presented by authors from leading higher education institutions of Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia, who confirmed their high level of academic training. The Conference has become an important professional platform for discussing current research in the fashion industry. The event was opened by Natalia Ostapenko, Doctor of Engineering, Professor, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Fashion, who thanked the participants, supervisors, and reviewers of the Competition for their fruitful work, exchange of experience, and the results of scientific research on topical issues of the fashion industry. The participation of students and young researchers in such a Competition encourages them to find innovative solutions and promotes the development of scientific research.

Alla Rubanka, PhD, Associate Professor of the Department of Fashion and Style, moderated the Final Scientific and Practical Conference in the Fashion Industry. She noted that young researchers are implementing new ideas in the fashion industry.

Higher education institutions presented papers on topical issues in the fashion industry, including the development of domestic knitted materials and medical devices, textiles with antibacterial properties, eco-textiles with special-purpose nanoparticles, knitted clothing, ethnic jewellery, the use of artificial intelligence in the fashion industry, designing clothing based on the principles of sustainable fashion, and analyzing embroidery and ornaments from different regions of Ukraine. As a result, the Conference has become not only a platform for professional growth, but also a platform for the exchange of views, new ideas and approaches, dialogue between representatives of the scientific and educational environment, and contributed to the dissemination of experience in the quality of communication and education in higher education institutions in Ukraine and around the world. 

In total, 75 research papers from 25 higher education institutions of Ukraine and the world (Austria, Kazakhstan) were submitted to the II International Competition of Research Papers for Higher Education Seekers in the direction of “Public and Corporate Management”. The papers were reviewed by qualified specialists, doctors of economic sciences, professors from around the world (Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Georgia) and Ukraine (representatives of KNUTD and other higher education institutions of Ukraine).

The moderators of the “Public and Corporate Management” direction of the Competition were Alla Kasych, Doctor of Economics, Professor, Head of the Department of Management and Smart Innovation and the Secretary of the Competition Svitlana Bondarenko, Doctor of Economics, Associate Professor, Associate Professor of the Department of Management and Smart Innovations of KNUTD. At the Final Conference on Public and Corporate Management, the authors of 19 research papers presented the results of students’ research in two areas: public management and corporate management in modern conditions.

The students' papers were devoted to such topical issues as ensuring post-war recovery of Ukraine, assessing corporate social responsibility, strengthening and perception of women's leadership, scaling Ukrainian business in the European market, digital management, etc. Meaningful presentations, engaging discussions, and precise answers to questions all added to the motivation of the Conference participants for further research. The students were supervised by well-known experts in the field of management in Ukraine: Oksana Zhylinska, PhD, Professor (Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv); Halyna Lopushniak, PhD, Professor (Vadym Hetman Kyiv National Economic University); Nadiia Bocharova, PhD, Associate Professor, Iryna Fedotova, PhD (Kharkiv National Automobile and Highway University); Olena Yastremska, Doctor of Economics, Professor, Tetiana Sihaieva, PhD, Associate Professor (Semen Kuznets Kharkiv National University of Economics); Natalia Vavdiiuk, PhD, Professor (Lutsk National Technical University); Natalia Valinkevych, PhD, Professor (Polissya National University); Olha Melnyk, PhD, Professor (Lviv Polytechnic National University); Yaroslava Yakovenko, PhD, Associate Professor (Kremenchuk Mykhailo Ostrohradskyi National University), Natalia Dyeyeva, PhD, Professor, Viktoria Khmurova, PhD, Associate Professor (State University of Trade and Economics); Natalia Pavlenchyk,, PhD, Professor (Ivan Bobersky Lviv State University of Physical Culture) and others.

At the awarding ceremony, on behalf of the Rector of Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design, Doctor of Science in Economics, Professor, Academician of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine Ivan Gryshchenko, Liudmyla Hanushchak-Yefimenko, Doctor of Science in Economics, Professor, Vice-Rector for Research and International Cooperation and Volodymyr Statsenko, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Vice-Rector for Digital Transformation greeted the winners.

Prof. Volodymyr Statsenko noted the creativity and thorough scientific approaches to solving the tasks of the participants, thanked the students for their active participation in the Competition and the supervisors “...for supporting their competitors and promoting the development of the scientific potential of talented young people”.

The moderator of the awarding ceremony at the Conference was Liudmyla Halavska, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Head of the Research and Development Department of KNUTD, who sincerely congratulated all the participants of the Competition, their supervisors, and also focused on the wide scientific geography of the research papers submitted to the Competition, which is especially important and valuable during the period of military actions in our country.

At the Final Conference, Liliana Platon, PhD, Head of the Department of Urbanism and Urban Design at the Technical University of Moldova, welcomed the participants from different countries and thanked the organizers of the Competition for this opportunity for young scientists to demonstrate innovative and creative research, make a presentation, and share their scientific experience.

Natalia Skliarenko, Doctor of Arts, Professor, Professor of the Department of Architecture and Design of Lutsk National Technical University, noted that this international competition is a continuation of the All-Ukrainian Competition of Student Research Papers in various fields, which has been organized by KNUTD for many years. Natalia also noted the high quality of student research papers and reports of this year’s students, the high level of English of all participants, and the actual scientific problems in various fields of design solved by students.

Angela Scripcenco, PhD, Associate Professor of the Department of Design and Technology in Textiles, Technical University of Moldova, Associate Professor, greeted all the participants and expressed her respect to the organizers, faculty, academic staff of Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design and other universities. She also noted that she was very pleased to be present at the International Competition of Student Research Papers. The students’ reports and presentations were of a high standard, despite the language barrier. Interesting and relevant presentations were made on topics such as artificial intelligence, digitalization, sustainable development, national identity, nanotechnology, and adaptive clothing.

Olena Yastremska, Doctor of Economics, Professor, Head of the Department of Management, Logistics and Economics at the Semen Kuznets Kharkiv National University of Economics, noted that the international competition has become an important platform for scientific communication between students and academics from Ukraine and other countries. The competition already has a positive image and makes it possible to preserve the traditions that were formed at Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design within the framework of the All-Ukrainian Competition of Research Papers in Investment and Innovation Management. Within the framework of the Public and Corporate Management program, the students presented a professional understanding of existing management problems and identified the main ways to solve them. All the papers were characterized by creative vision and innovative ideas. 

Mykola Riabchykov, Professor of the Department of Light Industry Technology, Lutsk National Technical University, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, congratulated friends and colleagues, including Ukrainian youth presenting their research, and wished all the participants success in their future work and international communication. The speaker noted that communication within the framework of the Final Scientific and Practical Conference takes place in English, the language of international communication, which creates opportunities for mobility, increases well-being, and fills life with more meaning.

After sincere congratulations from the esteemed fellow researchers, Liudmyla Halavska invited the deputy chairpersons of the Competition Commissions in the directions “Art and Design”, “Fashion Industry” and “Public and Corporate Management” to speak. They announced the winners of the Competition and awarded them with diplomas of the first, second and third degrees. The organizational support of the Competition was provided by Olena Yershova, PhD, Head of the Information Support and Technology Transfer Department of KNUTD. 

A list of the winners and their diplomas, as well as gratitude to the supervisors, will be posted on the official page of the Competition on the website of Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design.
