THE FIRST STAGE OF THE XXV PETRO JACYK INTERNATIONAL UKRAINIAN LANGUAGE COMPETITION TOOK PLACE AT KYIV NATIONAL UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGIES AND DESIGN

On October 28, 2024, the student community of Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design took part in the first stage of the XXV Petro Jacyk International Ukrainian Language Competition.

The contest starts every year on the Day of Ukrainian Writing and Language, as a day that unites everyone who cherishes their native language and literature.

On the eve of the jubilee competition, the teachers of the Department of Philology and Translation of the Institute of Law and Modern Technologies told their students about Petro Jacyk, a Canadian entrepreneur of Ukrainian origin and philanthropist, who is known for his generous contributions to the financing of Ukrainian studies in the West and in Ukraine. Experts in the Ukrainian language from more than 20 countries join the competition every year. The goal of the intellectual competition is to raise the prestige of the Ukrainian language, ensure its comprehensive development and functioning in all spheres of social life.

The members of the organizing committee of the first stage of the XXV Petro Jacyk International Ukrainian Language Competition – Professor Ivan Dzyra, Associate Professor Svitlana Dvorianchykova, Associate Professor Oleksandr Muntian and Senior Lecturer Liudmyla Roienko – were happy that there were many people willing to join the event at KNUTD. The participants anxiously completed the proposed tasks: they built case forms, corrected expressions, punctuated sentences, wrote an essay-reflection on the topic: “A person who does not know his mother tongue or shuns it, condemns himself to spiritual poverty.”

A competent jury will determine the winners of the university stage of the competition, who will take part in the next stages of the competition among experts in the Ukrainian language.

We wish success to our talented students!
