On November 8, 2024, as part of the All-Ukrainian Mayors’ Summit, the results of the International Hackathon "100 Ideas for Cities" organized by the IRS were presented. Participants of the Hackathon – students, educators, and professionals from Ukraine and around the world – developed conceptual designs from January to April 2024 for the restoration and reconstruction of social infrastructure in urban and rural areas of Ukraine. These projects were commissioned by local government bodies of the respective communities.
The presentation of Hackathon results featured Danylo Kosenko, PhD, Head of the Department of Interior and Furniture Design at KNUTD; Natalia Ryshkevych, Senior Lecturer of the same Department; and master students of the “Environmental Design” program, Oleksandra Buimister and Polina Katsion.
The following projects by KNUTD students and faculty were showcased: "Ideas for Restoring the General Education School Building No. 24 in the City of Bakhmut" (Supervisor: PhD D. Kosenko; Student: O. Buimister), "Ideas for Reconstructing a Public Space with a Library and Extracurricular Education Area in the Boiarka Urban Territorial Community" (Supervisors: Dr. Arch., Prof. V. Abyzov; Senior Lecturer N. Ryshkevych; PhD S. Kysil; Student: P. Katsion), "Ideas for a Sports and Wellness Complex Based on the Existing Youth Sports School and Sports Infrastructure of a Lyceum in the Irshava Community" (Supervisor: Dr. Arch., Prof. V. Abyzov; Student: D. Verianenkov).
The projects created by KNUTD students and faculty attracted significant interest and were highly praised by both the Hackathon jury and organizers, as well as by representatives of the territorial communities who commissioned the projects. These designs will be used by communities to attract funding for the implementation of the proposed ideas, particularly through placement on the DREAM State Recovery Management Ecosystem web platform.
We express our gratitude to the IRS team for organizing this impactful project and look forward to future collaboration!
