2024 is a jubilee year for Lviv Professional College of Fashion Industry of KNUTD, as the educational institution celebrates 80 years since its foundation!

Our College is an educational institution with a unique history and teaching staff.

Lviv College of Fashion Industry of Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design was established as Lviv College of Light Industry under the Resolution of the Council of People’s Commissariats of 30 November 1944, No. 1469.

Today we recall the years of creation, formation and development, years of creative searches and achievements, hard work that make up the treasure trove of experience, success and victories of the teaching staff and all those who made efforts to create the image of the modern Lviv Professional College of Fashion Industry of KNUTD.

Wartime became a test of strength for every educational institution, strengthening the belief that only through joint work and the desire for a happy future for young people and the state can victories be won!

Despite the challenges of today, the College supports the development of the material and technical base; it is open to communication and exchange of experience with educational institutions of Ukraine and international partners, city authorities, uses an individual learning path, remains the first platform for creating innovative, creative skills for the future profession, stimulates creativity and initiative of students. All of this creates favourable conditions for learning and patriotic life of students and teaching staff.

Nelia Kredenets, Director of Lviv Professional College of Fashion Industry of KNUTD, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor, Honoured Worker of Education of Ukraine, Member of the Union of Designers of Ukraine, has been heading the College since 1992. Thanks to her hard work, dedication, search for new ideas, creative and strong-willed decisions for the benefit of her native educational institution, for the development of science, for the prosperity of Ukraine, today the College is gaining momentum, turning not only a new page but also creating a new chapter of success in the Lviv region.

Lviv Professional College of Fashion Industry of KNUTD is a modern educational institution in the centre of Lviv, with a long history as an outstanding fashion school. Today, the College offers prestigious professions of fashion designer, technologist, entrepreneur, mechanic and graphic designer.

The partnership between the University and the College helps to improve the professional skills of students, develop educational programmes, provides an opportunity to participate in many joint events and projects, and choose the direction of further professional and personal development.

The College trains professional junior bachelors majoring in: 022 ‘Design’, 182 ‘Light Industry Technologies’, 076 ‘Entrepreneurship and Trade’, 133 ‘Industrial Engineering’. The latest technologies of educational activities are based on the structure of patriotic education: patriotic beliefs, patriotic consciousness and patriotic activity. The College’s educational policy promotes students’ creative activity in learning, motivation and independence. Attention to academic performance and discipline is maintained at the College thanks to the professional approaches of the teaching staff. The development of leadership among the student community is evidenced by the activity of the Student Council, participation in which fosters initiative, activity, self-criticism, responsibility, organisational, leadership and management skills. Self-government in the College is a real school of democracy for students, a school of civic education for young people, which extends to educational, labour, social, cultural, sports, artistic and other activities of students. A close-knit, creative team of students and teachers is actively involved in volunteer and charitable activities to help the Armed Forces and those in need, making small steps to do big things.

For 13 years, the College has been organising the All-Ukrainian project “The Battle of Fashion Designers” initiated by its founder and deputy director for humanitarian education, and aimed at promoting regional blue-collar professions and the fashion industry, positioning the potential of graduates. For young fashion designers, the competition became a podium to showcase their creative collections. This project is one of the strategic vectors of the business support programme in the Lviv City Territorial Community and represents a model of synergy between education, science and business.

The design centres of Kyiv and Lviv successfully go hand in hand, fulfilling their educational mission and their statutory tasks, as well as realising their ambitious dreams. This year, Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design was ranked 52nd among 124 best design schools in the world in the prestigious international CEOWORLD Magazine rankings for 2024! This significant achievement confirms the high quality of the University’s educational activities, the professionalism of its teachers and the success of our graduates at the international level.

Lviv Professional College of Fashion Industry of KNUTD in June 2024 – on the pages of Ukrainian Fashion Magazine and Collaboration about Lviv Fashion Day. Fashion shows and fashion projects, worthy collections and creative ideas of students and teachers are the hallmark of the College and shape its future. We are proud of the professional activities of young people and wish them further success and inspiration!

The participation of students in the creative life of the College is a chance to develop the traits of active and successful individuals and professionals who will be able to achieve results and realise their dreams not only in the college but also beyond.

The main value of every educational institution, manifested in the extended retrospective, is its graduates. Over eighty years, the College has trained more than 20,000 specialists. Among the College’s graduates are managers, designers, fashion designers, engineers, mechanics, and technologists of leading light industry enterprises in Ukraine and abroad.

By this significant date, Lviv Professional College of Fashion Industry of KNUTD has been walking the difficult path of hard work of many generations of teachers and staff. Adherence to traditions, active educational and social activities, memory of the past and ambitious plans for the future are the present of Lviv Professional College of Fashion Industry of KNUTD.

The previous year, teachers and staff received departmental awards from the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, diplomas and appreciation letters from the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine for their significant achievements in professional activities and active personal involvement in the educational process.

80 years is not only a significant date and a summary of results. It is a time of searching, determining the vector of development and moving towards the next achievements and victories!
