DR. JAWAD ABBAS’S INSPIRING LECTURE FOR Q-HELIX CONSORTIUM PHD STUDENTS: A GUIDE FROM IDEA TO PUBLICATION

On December 7, 2024, Dr. Jawad Abbas, a renowned scholar from the University of Central Punjab (Pakistan), delivered an inspiring online lecture titled "How to Prepare an Excellent Scientific Paper."

Dr. Abbas, widely recognized for his expertise in business strategy, innovation, green technologies, and corporate social responsibility, is listed among the world's top 2% most influential researchers according to Stanford University. His lecture was organized with the support of the leader of the international Q-Helix consortium and our long-term international partner, WSB University (Poland), and was primarily aimed at PhD students seeking to enhance their skills in academic publishing.

The Q-Helix consortium, with Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design as an associate partner, is an international alliance comprising 11 universities from 10 European countries: Poland, Germany, Czechia, Slovakia, Kosovo, Romania, Belgium, Lithuania, France, and Ukraine. The consortium fosters collaboration between academic institutions, industry, governments, and society to address global challenges through research and education. Students and researchers from all consortium member countries (approximately 114 participants) actively participated in the lecture, creating a dynamic and inclusive academic environment.

Dr. Abbas guided participants through the key stages of the scientific publication process, emphasizing the importance of identifying research gaps. He encouraged critical reviews of existing studies to uncover areas where knowledge remains incomplete or outdated and advised focusing on research addressing pressing global issues such as digital transformation and sustainable development.

The lecture also provided practical advice on selecting impactful research topics. Dr. Abbas highlighted the importance of balancing novelty, feasibility, and relevance while avoiding common mistakes such as choosing overly broad or repetitive topics. Using examples of effective and ineffective abstracts, he demonstrated how to clearly and convincingly present the context, objectives, methodology, and key findings of scientific research.

Participants also received detailed recommendations on techniques for selecting the right journal for publication. Dr. Abbas emphasized the importance of using tools like Elsevier Journal Finder and Springer Journal Suggester and aligning research topics with the scope and impact of target journals. Additionally, he shared practical tips on writing effective cover letters and responding to reviewer comments, increasing the likelihood of publication success.

The lecture sparked active interest among participants, who had the opportunity to ask questions and receive insightful answers from Dr. Abbas. This experience not only deepened their knowledge but also inspired many to pursue further research and prepare publications for prestigious academic journals.

We sincerely thank Dr. Abbas for his inspiring and informative lecture!

His advice and expertise have become an invaluable source of motivation and tools for PhD students and young researchers to improve their academic achievements.
