WORKING MEETING WITH A STAKEHOLDER OF THE SPECIALTY 182 “LIGHT INDUSTRY TECHNOLOGIES”

An important component of the quality implementation of any educational program is its monitoring and periodic review to respond in a timely manner to the needs of stakeholders, trends in the development of the specialty, the labor market, etc. According to the established tradition, within the framework of the specialty 182 “Light Industry Technologies”, a dialogue is constantly conducted between educators and practitioners by involving the latter in a productive and constructive discussion of the programs.

On December 3, 2024, a working meeting of guarantors, members of the working and support groups of the educational and professional programs (EPPs) of the first (bachelor’s) and second (master’s) levels of the specialty 182 “Light Industry Technologies” - “Design and Technology of Garments”, “Modeling, Design and Artistic Decoration of Light Industry Products”, “Fashion Industry” with a stakeholder was held. The academic community of the University was represented by Natalia Ostapenko, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, guarantor of the EPP; Olha Haranina, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Head of the Department; Larysa Bilotska, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor, guarantor of the EPP; Oksana Vodzinska, member of the working group; Halyna Oliinyk, PhD, Associate Professor; Tetiana Lutsker, PhD, Associate Professor; Liliia Navolska, PhD, and Olesia Kalynych, practitioner, technologist at Softorg, a graduate of KNUTD in 2001, participated on behalf of the stakeholders. The subject of the discussion was the relevance of training specialists in garment manufacturing technologies in these educational and professional programs. During the meeting, the lecturers familiarized the stakeholder with the EPPs, their uniqueness, and emphasized their development in accordance with higher education standards, the best domestic and international analogues, and sectoral and regional development.

Olesia Kalynych, as a practitioner, willingly shared her knowledge from her many years of practical experience in the field of garment production in Ukraine and around the world, spoke about her own career after receiving her diploma in this specialty, and spoke warmly about her alma mater. Having worked as a technologist at many companies, she learned to adapt quickly enough to any changes, in particular in the event of “non-standard situations” when it is necessary to react very quickly and adjust technological processes. The stakeholder emphasized that a technologist is an important specialist in the garment industry, and it is quite difficult to find such an experienced specialist on the market today.

During the meeting, the content of the educational components “Technology of garments”, “Features of the technology of manufacturing products from various materials”, “Creative technologies in the garment industry”, “Fundamentals of designing technological processes of mass production of clothing”, “Automated production control systems and automated technological processes of clothing production”, “Innovative technologies in product design” was analyzed for compliance with the professional competencies in the technology of garment production required for training.

 Other topics of discussion included the modern principles of organizing garment industry enterprises, development and execution of technological documentation, control over compliance with technological processes, automation and optimization of technological processes in accordance with educational and professional programs, the needs of the modern labor market and the necessary knowledge and skills for a successful career.

The participants worked actively and fruitfully, discussed the content of educational components in accordance with new production realities and regional needs. Olesia Kalynych provided valuable recommendations and constructive suggestions for improving the practical training of students majoring in 182 “Light Industry Technologies”. She emphasized the importance of studying the disciplines of garment manufacturing technologies, after mastering which graduates will be able to work at enterprises, organizations and institutions operating in garment production. She also emphasized that students' skills such as creative thinking, strategic vision, personal development of a specialist and business in general, etc. are deepened in the learning process. At the end of the meeting, she noted that being a technologist is a lifelong learning process, as you need to constantly master and implement the latest developments and technologies. The stakeholder offered her own participation in the educational process by joining lectures and workshops.

We thank all the attendees for a meaningful and efficient meeting, active participation and friendly atmosphere during the discussion of educational programs. Such meetings are valuable because they are always a professional and meaningful communication between stakeholders and the academic community.
