During November 2024 – January 2025, students of the Department of Art and Fashion Design, the program “Fashion Design” took part in the all-Ukrainian startup competition in the fashion industry Fashion Business Breakthrough - 2025, organized by the public union “National Sectoral Partnership in the Light Industry of Ukraine Fashion Globus Ukraine”.
The director of the Fashion Business Breakthrough - 2025 Сompetition is Golda Vinogradska, designer, Vice President of the Confederation of Designers and Stylists of Ukraine, head of the National Sectoral Partnership in the Light Industry of Ukraine Fashion Globus Ukraine.
The semifinals of the Competition were held at the International Exhibition Center as part of the 47th Kyiv Fashion International Festival.
On January 29, 2025, Rector of KNUTD Ivan Gryshchenko, Doctor of Economics, Professor, Academician of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine, solemnly opened the semifinals of the Competition. In his speech, Ivan Mykhailovych emphasized the importance of such competitions for talented young people in the field of design and fashion for the post-war restoration of our country.
Yana Cherniavska, Director and Curator of the Kyiv Fashion International Festival, on behalf of Kyiv International Contract Fair LLC, welcomed the participants and noted the high level of the participants' work.
More than 90 startups from students of higher and vocational education institutions were submitted to the Competition.
Talented students of the Department of Art and Fashion Design and their supervisors developed three startups for the Competition:
Iryna Chornohrytska's startup and her brand EO.PROJECTT (headed by Nadiya Liuklian, Assistant of the Department of Art and Fashion Design). The brand aims to create a unique street style inspired by Japanese aesthetics and form for those who appreciate character and courage in every detail.
Daryna Bovsunovska's brand ÂME (headed by Maryna Yatsenko, PhD, Associate Professor, Associate Professor of the Department of Art and Fashion Design) develops a creative idea to make elegant, stylish and functional accessories that combine handmade craftsmanship, quality materials and modern design, while supporting the tradition of knitting and maintaining ethical standards in production.
Alina Mazur's work – the ALMAZ.WEAR brand (headed by Iryna Chubotina, PhD, senior lecturer of the Department of Art and Fashion Design) focuses on creating stylish and practical accessories, introducing upcycling and eco-friendly approaches in the manufacture of youth hats.
During the three days of the exhibition, the works of the participants were presented at the stand, and visitors could see the creative ideas and results of the work of young designers of clothing, footwear, accessories, household items, etc.
An international jury evaluated the works of the contestants. On January 31, 2025, the results of the Competition were announced and 20 finalists from different cities of Ukraine were selected.
For our students, the Competition has become an important experience for the formation of professional competencies and the ability not only to develop a project, but also to present it and develop a business plan.
