On February 12, 2025, a meeting of Ukrainian Students International Communication Club (USICC) was held at the Department of Philology and Translation (KNUTD). This international project of the Department of Philology and Translation was started last year within the framework of the cooperation agreement between KNUTD and American Non-Governmental Organization "International Cultural and Educational Association" (ICEA).
The event was moderated by the Head of the Department, PhD in Philology Yelizaveta Isakova, Associate Professsor of the Department, PhD in Philology, Svitlana Dvorianchykova and Vice-president and Director of ICEA programs Olena Seitz.
1-4 courses students of the educational program "English Language: Translation in Business Communications" (specialty 035 Philology) joined the meeting.
The following tasks of the international communication club were identified as important: to provide an opportunity for Ukrainian applicants to become more familiar with the system of education and research activity in America and to establish communicative contacts with students of higher educational institutions in the United States. This was the reason for the thorough preparation by Ukrainian students for the meeting with American peers.
Future translators from the groups BAM-21, BAM-22, BAM-23, BAM-24, BZAM-23 willingly started communication, shared thoughts on useful and interesting topics for further discussion and what information about Ukraine and their studies they would like to represent to American students.
Our applicants asked Olena Seitz numerous questions about the perception of Ukraine by American society, the traditions of implementing democratic values into the educational space, peculiarities of communicating with famous people and peers.
The organizers discussed the plan of the next club meeting and distributed functional responsibilities among the participants.
