ROUND TABLE TO DISCUSS EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS WITH STAKEHOLDERS OF THE DEPARTMENT OF FINANCE AND BUSINESS CONSULTING

On February 20, 2025, Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design hosted a discussion of the educational programs of the Department of Finance and Business Consulting with stakeholders from the academic community, employers, higher education students and graduates.

The event was moderated by Iryna Tarasenko, Doctor of Economics, Professor, Head of the Department of Finance and Business Consulting, guarantor of the educational and professional program “Finance, Banking and Insurance” of the first (bachelor's) level of higher education, specialty D2 “Finance, Banking, Insurance and Stock Market”.

The University was represented by: Mariana Shkoda, Dean of the Faculty of Management and Business Design, Doctor of Economics, Professor; Taliat Belyalov, Head of the Department of Entrepreneurship and Business, Doctor of Economics, Professor; Yuliia Rusina, guarantor of the project of the educational and professional program “Corporate Finance and Investment Consulting” of the second (master's) level of higher education, specialty D2 “Finance, Banking, Insurance and Stock Market”, Associate Professor of the Department of Finance and Business Consulting, PhD in Economics, Associate Professor; Andrii Zolkover, guarantor of the educational and scientific program “Finance, Banking and Insurance” of the third (Doctor of Philosophy) level of higher education, specialty D2 “Finance, Banking, Insurance and Stock Market”, Associate Professor of the Department of Finance and Business Consulting, Doctor of Economics, Professor;  the academic staff (Mykola Matiukha, Dmytro Kovalenko, Olha Batrak, Olha Bunda) and higher education students of the Department under the relevant educational programs (Alina Cherniay, Andrii Zaitsev, Maksym Studinskyi, Oleksii Semenchuk, Ilya Bulantsov, Oleh Pakosh, Rostyslav Zaiets, Dmytro Bondarenko, Vladyslav Apatskyi, Bohdan Obertynskyi).

The discussion was attended by the stakeholders from the academic community: Vitaliy Venger, Senior Research Fellow, Head of the Trade and Industrial Policy Department, Institute for Economics and Forecasting of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Doctor of Economics;  Valentyna Hlukhova, Deputy Head of the Department of Accounting and Finance for Educational and Methodological Work of Kremenchuk Mykhailo Ostrohradskyi National University, PhD in Economics, Associate Professor; Kostiantyn Bezverkhyi, Associate Professor of the Department of Financial Analysis and Audit of the State University of Trade and Economics, PhD in Economics, Associate Professor; Andrii Ramskyi, Head of the Department of Finance of Borys Grinchenko Kyiv Metropolitan University, Doctor of Economics, Professor; Nataliia Shvets, Head of the Department of Finance of the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine, Doctor of Economics, Professor; and others.  Among the stakeholders from the academic community were also alumni of the Department.

The employer stakeholders joined the discussion of the educational programs:  Oleksandr Bondar, CEO of Mega-Polis; Volodymyr Kostin, Head of the Group of Branches of the Kyiv Regional Center of FUIB; Liudmyla Kolisetska, Member of the Board, Financial Director of INGO Insurance Company; Oksana Livshun, Chief Accountant of Direx LLC (University graduate); Yuliіa Liubtsova, Senior Personal Financial Consultant for Individual Business of Ukrsibbank JSC (University graduate).

During the discussion, the purpose, uniqueness, educational components that contribute to the formation of general and professional competencies and the achievement of program learning outcomes, as well as the specifics of the educational programs “Finance, Banking and Insurance” of the first (bachelor's) level of higher education and “Finance, Banking and Insurance” of the third (educational and scientific) level of higher education were discussed.

Particular attention was paid to the discussion of the project of the educational and professional program “Corporate Finance and Investment Consulting” of the second (master's) level of higher education, specialty D2 “Finance, Banking, Insurance and Stock Market”, which is planned to be introduced at the Department of FBC in the next academic year. It is noted that the educational and professional program “Corporate Finance and Investment Consulting” will be relevant and competitive in the market of educational services, and graduates will be in demand by employers. Particular emphasis was placed on the investment component of the educational and professional program, as investment activity is very important in the perspective of Ukraine's post-war recovery.

During the discussion of the educational programs, Vitaliy Venger and Taliat Belyalov drew attention to the importance of strengthening the quality assurance of the project of the educational program “Corporate Finance and Investment Consulting” of the second (master's) level of higher education by increasing the number of courses directly related to the stock market;  Nataliia Shvets emphasized a clearer formulation of the focus of the EPP “Corporate Finance and Investment Consulting” of the second (master's) level of higher education and suggested that the development of the EPP should be guided by the draft standard of the specialty 072 “Finance, Banking, Insurance and Stock Market”; Yuliіa Lyubtsova emphasized the importance of including financial technology courses in the curriculum of all three levels of higher education; Volodymyr Kostin suggested strengthening the practical component in the educational components of the EPP and PLOs. Colleagues shared their own experience in training specialists in finance, banking, insurance, and the stock market in Ukrainian higher education institutions and generally supported the content of the EPP and PLOs, as well as provided suggestions for their improvement.

As a result of the discussion, the stakeholders and students positively evaluated the educational programs of the Department of Finance and Business Consulting and noted that the Department had taken into account previous proposals. The discussion also addressed issues for further development of the educational programs.
