On March 25, 2025, an extremely meaningful and inspiring guest lecture was held at the Educational and Scientific Institute of Culture and Creative Industries of the Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design on the topic:
"The Image of Pierrot in the Works of Oleksandr KOZARENKO: Musical Dramaturgy and Actor's Interpretation."
The event was dedicated to the memory of Mr. Oleksandr KOZARENKO (08/24/1963 – 03/21/2023) — one of the brightest representatives of the Ukrainian composer school of the late 20th – early 21st centuries. O. KOZARENKO is an outstanding Ukrainian composer, pianist, musicologist , and teacher, whose multifaceted creativity has shaped new horizons of Ukrainian academic art. The figure of the composer is a landmark for modern Ukrainian culture: as a brilliant interpreter, innovator, and thinker, he had a profound influence on the formation of several generations of Ukrainian musicians, scientists, and performers. O. KOZARENKO's works are performed on leading stages in Ukraine and the world, and his pedagogical activity has left a bright mark on the professional development of his students.
The speaker of the event was Oksana HISA — Candidate of Art History, Associate Professor of the Department of Musicology and Methods of Musical Art of the Volodymyr Hnatyuk Ternopil National Pedagogical University. Ms. Oksana — a well-known researcher of modern Ukrainian musical art — shared the results of her scientific analysis and personal artistic impressions of the artist's work. It is worth noting that Ms. Oksana was a graduate student of Mr. Oleksandr Kozarenko and had the honor of communicating with him personally , which allowed her not only to deeply explore his work, but also to convey to the audience a vivid vision of the composer's personality, his artistic beliefs, and stylistic searches.
The focus of the lecture was the image of Pierrot - a tragic clown, who acquired a new artistic sound in the composer's work. Students were able to trace how the musical dramaturgy of O. KOZARENKO's works embodies the depth of this character, what means of musical expressiveness are used to convey his psychologism, emotional multidimensionality and stage potential. Special emphasis was placed on the intersection of musical and theatrical art, on the possibilities of acting interpretation of musical material in the context of preparation for stage embodiment.
The event demonstrated the high level of interest of applicants in current topics of Ukrainian musical theater and emphasized the importance of inviting leading practitioners and scholars in the field of culture and art to the university.
This event is part of the systematic work of the National Institute of Scientific and Technological Research of Ukraine to involve leading scientists and practitioners in the educational process, with the aim of broadening the worldview and professional training of higher education applicants.
