WEBINAR “ETHICAL LEADERSHIP AND COMPLIANCE WITH ANTI-CORRUPTION LEGISLATION IN HIGHER EDUCATION”

The key task in ensuring quality education, institutional openness, transparency, and the sustainable development of the University is the effective implementation of anti-corruption standards and the establishment of a fair and ethical educational environment. Effective counteraction to corruption requires a systematic analysis of its root causes, as well as the development of comprehensive strategies and tactics for anti-corruption efforts. Raising awareness among participants in the educational process is a vital component of promoting integrity and upholding ethical principles within the higher education system.

Given the significance of this issue and with the aim of enhancing the teaching competencies of the University’s academic staff, a webinar “Ethical Leadership and Compliance with Anti-Corruption Legislation in Higher Education” was held on March 31 – April 1, 2025. The event was conducted by Kateryna UDOD, Head of the Training Center “Building Integrity” at Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs, and was organized for the heads of structural units of the Faculty of Arts and Fashion at KNUTD.

It should be noted that the speaker paid special attention to anti-corruption measures, basic anti-corruption standards and legislative procedures in higher education in Ukraine. Nataliia OSTAPENKO, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Fashion, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Olha HARANINA, Head of the Department of Fashion Technology, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Alla SEMENOVA, Head of the Department of Professional Education in Technology and Design, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor, and Tetiana STRUMINSKA, Head of the Department of Fashion and Style, PhD, Associate Professor, discussed the specifics of anti-corruption activities in higher education institutions. After all, the formation of a virtuous and responsible attitude of every member of Ukrainian society is the key to eradicating corruption in the country.

The speaker commended the efforts of Yana Liakhova, the authorized person responsible for the prevention and detection of corruption at Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design. Particular attention was drawn to the well-structured “Reporting Corruption” section on the University’s official website. This page provides access to international legal instruments, Ukrainian legislation, and resolutions of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine related to anti-corruption efforts. It also contains comprehensive information regarding the University’s internal measures for preventing and detecting corruption.

We extend our sincere gratitude to Kateryna Udod for her effective communication, as well as the meaningful and comprehensive content of her lecture.
