The Spanish SCImago Lab has recently published the results of the international SCImago Institutions Rankings 2025. In 2025, Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design ranks 15th among Ukrainian universities in the global SCImago Institutions Rankings (17th – among all Ukrainian scientific institutions).
The SCImago Institutions Rankings evaluate the contribution of institutions to scientific research, innovation, and societal impact. This ranking system enables the comparison of institutional performance and helps identify global leaders in science and innovation. According to its methodology, results are categorized into 19 major fields of knowledge, providing a clear picture of each institution’s achievements across various academic and research domains.

In the scientific fields of Agricultural and Biological Sciences, Energy, and Environmental Science, the University is among the top ten in Ukraine.
The SCImago Institutions Rankings methodology is based on data from the Scopus scientometric database and other authoritative sources. The evaluation takes into account such criteria as the impact of scientific publications, the level of international cooperation, open access to research, the development of patent activities, technological contribution and the digital presence of the university. In the 2025 ranking, our University secured a place in the first quartile (Q1) for High-Quality Publications, reflecting the strength and impact of its research output. This distinction is based on the proportion of our publications featured in top-tier journals – those ranked in the top 25% within their respective subject areas.
Thanks to the dedicated efforts of its research teams, KNUTD continues to uphold its strong position in the international scientific and educational community.
