INTERREGIONAL CONFERENCE “GREEN TRANSITION” IN THE CONTEXT OF SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT OF THE TEXTILE AND FASHION INDUSTRIES

On April 10, 2025, the Interregional Conference “Green Transition” was held at Kalynivka Technological Vocational College (KTVC), co-organized by the Ukrainian Association of Light Industry Enterprises and Re:inventex.

The event served as a meaningful platform for professional dialogue among representatives of government, educational institutions, and production enterprises in the textile and fashion industries. It also became a space for the exchange of fresh ideas among like-minded individuals, fostering a sense of effortless team unity and bringing together professionals around the shared goal of sustainable development in the textile and fashion sectors.

Participants discussed key trends in recycling, the promotion of a culture of conscious textile waste management, and shared insights and experiences on how to elevate and popularize professions within the fashion industry.

Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design was represented at the conference by Natalia Ostapenko, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Fashion, Olha Haranina, Head of the Department of Fashion Technology, Tetiana Struminska, Head of the Department of Fashion and Style, as well as Oksana Morhun and Anastasiia Shtelmakh, first- level (bachelor) students of the Fashion Industry and Modeling, Design and Artistic Decoration of Light Industry Products programs, respectively.

The conference was moderated by Olha Shuliak, Head of the Employment Department of the KTVC.

 

The event was opened by Ruslan Budiak, Director of Kalynivka Technological Vocational College, who welcomed the conference participants and emphasized that the college is developing dynamically and trains in-demand specialists. He noted that the laboratory was set up with co-financing from partners from Denmark, the Kalynivka Territorial Community and the Vinnytsia Regional Military Administration.

Fellow educators, long-term business partners and stakeholders were greeted with friendly hugs. The event was attended by educators from Kalynivka Technological Vocational College, Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design, Khmelnytsky National University, Kyiv Vocational College of Applied Sciences, Vinnytsia Higher Vocational School of Services, and Vinnytsia Center for Vocational Education of Technology and Design.

 

On behalf of the Rector of KNUTD, Ivan Gryshchenko, Natalia Ostapenko delivered welcoming remarks. Natalia emphasized the importance of the conference as a platform for the exchange of experience, ideas, and communication between light industry professionals, as well as the importance of the University’s partnership with the college.

The conference included the grand opening of the sewing laboratory at the KTVC and a symbolic cutting of the red ribbon. The spacious, bright laboratory is equipped with modern universal and special sewing machines, cutting tables, an embroidery semi-automatic machine, ironing equipment, desks, clothing samples on mannequins, etc.

  

Serhii Matiukh, Rector of Khmelnytsky National University, expressed his sincere words of greeting and support to the participants of the event and emphasized the importance of such events for the development of the light industry. Taras Prytula, Director of Corporate Social Responsibility at Softorg, who focused on the development and search for new opportunities in the light industry, also welcomed the participants.

 

In a professional, partnership atmosphere, the participants listened to the informative and constructive reports of the speakers. In particular, the participants listened with interest to the powerful speeches of Tetiana Izovit, President and CEO of Ukrlegprom Association on the topic “Double transformation of the industry: digital and green transitions”; Tetiana Pushkarova, Development Manager at Re:inventex on the topic “EU Ecodesign Regulation. The future of sustainable development of the textile and fashion industry”; Hanna Shchutska, Director of the Kyiv Professional College of Applied Sciences on “Meta-skills: a strategy for popularizing professions in the light industry”; Iryna Daus, R&D Director at Intelltex on “Modern solutions for automation and transition to sustainable production. Digital clothing design, implementation of AI in workflows”.

 

 

The audience gave loud applause to the author’s collections of clothing models by talented young people of the KTVC “Link of Generations” and “Echo of Generations”.

 

The conference also featured an award ceremony for the participants of the eco-challenge, whose video presentation demonstrated the professional skills of the students in separating textile waste at garment enterprises. Tetiana Izovit and Tetiana Pushkarova presented gifts – textiles and sweets – to the applause of the participants, for which everyone was sincerely grateful.

At the conclusion of the event, the organizers presented personal certificates of participation to attendees, recognizing their engagement with topics such as environmental literacy and the development and implementation of innovative actions aimed at promoting the sustainable development of industrial clothing production.

An unforgettable experience for the participants was a visit to the successful PRAT “KALYNA-LTD”. Director Serhii Lomachevskyi personally conducted a tour of the production facility, told about its capacities and product range.
