PRACTICAL TRAINING OF STUDENTS OF THE FACULTY OF CHEMICAL AND BIOPHARMACEUTICAL TECHNOLOGIES

From 10 February to 8 March 2025, students of the Faculty of Chemical and Biopharmaceutical Technologies of the Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design (KNUTD) underwent training, production and research practice at leading enterprises of the chemical, pharmaceutical and biochemical industries of Ukraine, as well as in the faculty's educational and research laboratories.

As part of the internship programmes, junior students learned the organisational structure of specialised enterprises in different regions of Ukraine, studied their product portfolio, participated in thematic excursions, and joined the research conducted in the laboratories of the faculty's departments. Senior students were sent to leading specialised enterprises for internships.

The main practice bases this year were: JSC Farmak, PrJSC Pharmaceutical Firm Darnitsa, JSC Kyivmedpreparat, LLC Biopharma Plasma, LLC Pharma Start, LLC Umanchimtrade Ukraine, LLC Pilab, LLC Interdes, PE Unix, LLC Elfa Laboratory, LLC Marie Fresh Cosmetics, LLC Kievguma (Kyiv region, Fastiv, Brovary), KPD LLC (Kyiv region, Fastiv), Spectrum Packaging LLC (Kyiv region, Vyshgorod), TAS EVOTEK LLC (Kyiv), Termoplast LLC (Khmelnytsky region, Letychiv), Ecosintezpolymer PE (Kyiv region, Vyshgorod), Pegasus Ukraine LLC (Kyiv), Planet Plastic LLC (Kyiv region, Irpin), Irpin), LLC Research and Production Firm Diagnostic Devices, SE Research and Development Centre for Energy Saving Structures and Technologies Technoluch, Fastiv District State Hospital of Veterinary Medicine (Fastiv, Kyiv region), LLC World of Leather (Bolekhiv, Ivano-Frankivsk region), PJSC Insulin Production Indar, JSC Kyiv Vitamin Plant, PJSC Carlsberg Ukraine, LLC Biotestlab, ALC Yagotyn Butter Plant, D.K. Zabolotny Institute of Microbiology and Virology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, State Enterprise Interdepartmental Scientific and Technical Centre Agribiotech of the National Academy of Sciences and the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, State Non-Profit Enterprise National Cancer Institute, Institute of Molecular Biology and Genetics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, M.M. Hryshko National Botanical Garden of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.

Applicants had the opportunity to learn about modern technological processes, the organisation of laboratory and production processes, and the practical application of scientific knowledge in the real sector of the economy.

The internship at Diagnostic Instruments LLC, where the students got acquainted with the methods of non-destructive testing of product quality at various stages – both during production and during operation – was very informative. The students learnt the basics of these methods and realised the importance of non-destructive testing to ensure the safety and reliability of products, structures and systems in various industries. Such control helps to identify hidden defects or potential damage that could lead to serious technical failures. In particular, in the aerospace and automotive industries, these techniques are key to checking the integrity of critical components – from aircraft wings to car engine parts – to help prevent accidents and incidents.

The 2nd year students of the educational and professional programme Industrial Pharmacy underwent an internship at the M.M. Gryshko National Botanical Garden of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. During the outdoor classes, the students could deepen their knowledge of pharmaceutical botany and pharmacognosy, get acquainted with medicinal plants in the natural environment and consolidate their theoretical knowledge with practical skills.

Some of the students were trained in the faculty's teaching and research laboratories, where they were actively involved in research work on the scientific topics of the departments.

In addition, as part of the practice for master's students of the educational and professional programme European Cosmetics, an excursion to the ProCare enterprise, a well-known manufacturer and distributor of cosmetics, was conducted. The junior students of the educational and professional programmes Innovative Pharmacy and Industrial Pharmacy were on the excursion to Pharmex Group LLC, where students saw the work of a pharmaceutical company in both analytical laboratories and production units, got acquainted with the methods of quality control of raw materials, intermediate products and finished medicines, as well as with the processes of validation, qualification of equipment and packaging of drugs.

Patriotic moral and ethical education of young people is equally important. In particular, the 1st year students of the Chemical Technology and Engineering study programme visited the National Museum of Chornobyl. The problem of radioactive contamination of the environment is still highly relevant, especially in the context of Russia's terrorist actions. The museum's exposition highlights the scale of the disaster and honours the heroism of the liquidators who fought against its consequences at the cost of their own lives.

We express our sincere gratitude to all the stakeholders who took part in organising and conducting the internship for higher education students of the Faculty of Chemical and Biopharmaceutical Technologies of KNUTD. Ensuring quality education and educational programmes' compliance with modern labour market requirements is essential!
