YOUNG PEOPLE TAKE THE LEAD IN DECISION-MAKING – A PRINCIPLE EMBRACED BY STUDENTS OF THE FACULTIES OF CHEMICAL AND BIOPHARMACEUTICAL TECHNOLOGIES AND ENGINEERING AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGIES

On April 16, 2025, students and faculty members of the Department of Chemical Technologies and Resource Saving, in collaboration with the NPC Ukrenergo team led by expert on environmental protection Hanna Yakymenko, held an ecological simulation game titled “Youth Makes Decisions” at the Coworking Center. The event also saw the participation of students from the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technologies, as well as members of the “Eco-Club.”

The participants of the game, using the example of such countries as Ukraine, Brazil, Nepal, India, UAE, Japan, discussed the issues of rational use of natural resources and development of non-traditional types of energy, deforestation and preservation of biodiversity, recycling of solid household waste and provision of drinking water, and many others. The participants of the game also managed to demonstrate their leadership qualities and civic position.

The joint team led by a student of the Faculty of Chemical and Biopharmaceutical Technologies, Dmytro Davydiuk, who took care of the environmental problems of Brazil, won. Encouragement certificates were received by students of the Faculty of Chemical Engineering Oleksiy Krytskyi and Dmytro Barkov. Representatives of the “Eco-club” led by Yevhenia Romaniuk were also awarded for their active participation.

Also during the meeting, employees of the Department of Chemical Technologies and Resource Saving Viktoria Plavan, Iryna Lyashok, Oksana Butenko, together with colleagues from NPC Ukrenergo, discussed further directions for the development of the educational program “Environmental Engineering”. Hanna Yakymenko, as a stakeholder of this educational program, expressed her recommendations regarding the content of the educational program, as well as directions for improving the practical training of students.
