In the heart of our capital, at St. Sophia of Kyiv, an enchanting exhibition titled “BioFashion: Costume as a Form of Life” was opened. The event was organized by the Department of Art and Costume Design at Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design.
On April 15, 2025, students of the BNT Groups, enrolled in the educational programme “Nano- and Microtechnologies in Design”, had a unique opportunity to visit the “BioFashion” exhibition, held in two exhibition halls of the Khlibnya Gallery. Acting as a guide to this world where nature’s forms are transformed into innovative clothing models was Associate Professor Halyna Kokorina, who insightfully shared the creative vision and conceptual ideas behind the compositions. The tour was also attended by Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Activity, Alla Kasych, and Vice-Rector for Digital Transformation, Volodymyr Statsenko, both of whom were deeply impressed by the creativity and imagination demonstrated by our talented design students.
The original task was to create a bionic suit: to select a natural form, transform the bio-analogue into a costume, and bring the idea to life using unconventional materials. Guided by the Head of the Department of Applied Physics and Higher Mathematics, Iryna Oleynikova, and Associate Professor Liudmyla Volokh, the students of the BNT Group engaged in the creative process by interpreting the authors’ concepts and selecting the costume that best resonated with their own inner state.
Time flew by, and the tour concluded with everyone in a good mood, inspired and eager to bring their own creative fantasies to life.
