On April 16, 2025, Alla Kolodyazhna, PhD in Psychology, Associate Professor of the Department of Professional Education in Technology and Design, took part in a webinar on “Gaming Disorder in Childhood and Adolescence – from Etiology to Therapy” as part of the project “Specialized Services for Children and Adolescents in the Field of Mental Health”, conducted by the Coordination Center for Mental Health of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine in partnership with the European Society of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (ESCAP) with the support of UNICEF in Ukraine.
The project is being implemented within the framework of the All-Ukrainian Mental Health Program “Are You OK?” at the initiative of First Lady Olena Zelenska.
The purpose of the event is to provide access to the knowledge and skills of internationally recognized experts, to learn about best practices and scientific innovations. The webinar was held online.
The speaker at the event was Dr. Kerstin Paschke, Associate Professor, Head of the German Center for Addiction Research in Childhood and Adolescence, Senior Consultant at the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Psychotherapy and Psychosomatics at the University Hospital Hamburg-Eppendorf (Germany).
The topic of the event has become relevant for specialists in the field of child and adolescent psychiatry, psychologists, educators and social workers who face the challenges of digital addiction in their work with young people. In total, more than 550 participants joined the event.
Dr. Kerstin Paschke is a leading German researcher in digital media use disorders among children and adolescents. As a psychiatrist and psychologist, she has been working with adolescents with problematic gaming or social media use and their families for over seven years. She is the principal investigator on a number of research and applied projects focused on the etiology, diagnosis, and treatment of digital media addictions. Dr. Paschke is the author of more than 50 scientific publications, including over 20 articles in international peer-reviewed journals, and has received multiple research awards in this rapidly developing field.
