On April 29, 2025, as part of the Week of Engineering and Information Technologies at Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design (KNUTD), an interactive quest titled “Find Your Laboratory” was held for students of the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technologies. Participants represented the Departments of Computer Engineering and Electromechanics, Applied Physics and Higher Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, Information and Computer Technologies. On that day, the University laboratories were transformed into an adventure map: each location offered a challenge, knowledge, interaction, and inspiration.
Modern students get education under difficult conditions of war, forced displacement, financial instability, psychological stress, and a loss of motivation. Under such circumstances, activities that promote emotional stability, unity, and mutual support become especially important. The quest at KNUTD became exactly such an initiative – an educational and developmental space where learning was intertwined with real-life experiences of teamwork and personal growth.
The event was initiated by Associate Professor of the Department of Computer Engineering and Electromechanics, Yevhenia ROMANIUK, and the The Head of the Faculty’s Primary Trade Union Organization of Students, Anastasiia LYKHOPUD. They created not just a game, but a platform for developing critical thinking, communication, and leadership skills.
Students, united in teams, traveled through the University completing tasks that required knowledge in programming, electronics, mechatronics, technical modeling, and design. They had to solve intellectual puzzles, overcome mini-challenges, and collaborate effectively. The participants were inspired and supported by the faculty members: Iryna OLEINIKOVA, Yurii LEBEDENKO, Antonina VOLIVACH, Svitlana DEMISHONKOVA, Oleksandr FEDORENKO and Oleksandr HLADCHUK.
The event concluded with a ceremonial greeting from the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technologies, Ihor PANASIUK, who acknowledged the winning teams with certificates and symbolic gifts.
The “Find Your Laboratory” quest is an example of how modern university education combines technology, values-based education, support, and national identity. At its center is the young individual, who despite the challenges of the time has the opportunity to grow, discover themselves, and contribute to creating a new Ukraine.
