On April 30, 2025, representatives of KNUTD participated in the monthly meeting of the UAx platform of the European League of Institutes of the Arts (ELIA).
The meeting was organized by Uliana Furiv and Dasha Logvynova, managers of the UAx ELIA platform. During the session, participants discussed upcoming community events and avenues for cooperation, sharing experiences from jointly implemented projects.
KNUTD was represented by Kalyna Pashkevych, Dean of the Faculty of Design, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, and Olena Herasymenko, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Design, Doctor of Philosophy, Associate Professor.
At the beginning of the meeting, Uliana Furiv, Manager of the UAx platform, highlighted the opportunities available through the participation of Ukrainian and international art institutions in the European League of Institutes of the Arts (ELIA). She also presented the upcoming events and program of meetings planned by ELIA for 2025.
With the support of ELIA, the Faculty of Design at KNUTD was granted the opportunity to establish collaboration with its sister institution, Oslo National Academy of the Arts. As part of this partnership, Norwegian colleagues took part in the International Scientific and Practical Conference “Topical Issues in Modern Design”, organized by the Faculty of Design at KNUTD on April 4, 2025.
KNUTD students are currently submitting applications for the UAx Abakanowicz Fellowship 2025. Through this program, our students will receive mentoring from Oslo National Academy of the Arts during the 2025-2026 academic year, along with scholarship support. During the meeting, new participants of the UAx platform of the European League of Institutes of the Arts (ELIA) were introduced. Nina Araya Berrios, Associate Professor of the Department of Humanities at Kyiv Municipal Academy of Performing and Circus Arts (KMAPCA), PhD in Art History, and Associate Professor, shared her experience of cooperation with her institution’s sister school.
In addition to individual mentoring support for students, the UAx ELIA platform facilitated remote learning classes at KMAPCA, conducted by instructors from the nursing school. These sessions, held via the ZOOM platform, significantly enhanced opportunities for intercultural exchange through digital learning methods.
In addition, the participants shared their experiences and plans for further collaboration with their sister schools in breakout groups. This format provided an opportunity to receive valuable insights in a more informal setting from colleagues representing international institutions such as Jorun Kugelberg from Stockholm University of the Arts and Simona Pilon from the Berkeley Campus in Valencia, as well as Ukrainian institutions, including Natalia Korchyna of the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture and Iryna Polstiankina of the R. Glier Kyiv Municipal Academy of Music.
We extend our sincere gratitude to the UAx platform and the European League of Institutions of the Arts (ELIA) for their invaluable support and the opportunities they provide to both students and faculty memebers. We look forward to continued productive collaboration and future joint initiatives!
