On May 3-4, 2025, KNUTD for the second time joined the largest creative event of the year - Ukrainian design and innovation week (UDIW) and presented the creative achievements of teachers and students at the exhibition and design market "DESIGN HALL" in the heart of Kyiv - at the exhibition location in the Mystetskyi Arsenal.
«DESIGN HALL» is the third large-scale exhibition and design market that took place at the Mystetskyi Arsenal in Kyiv as part of the fourth season of Ukrainian Design and Innovation Week (UDIW) – an event that combines innovation, design and art. This year, the event brought together over 130 participants who represented Ukrainian and world design – modern furniture, interior solutions, lighting, decor and works of art. At the exhibition, companies, brands, firms from various fields of design – industrial design, interior design, architecture, graphic, object, fashion design, furniture, lighting, textiles and others – presented their latest developments.
On May 3, 2025, the grand opening of the KNUTD exhibition stand took place. The event was opened by the rector of KNUTD Ivan Gryshchenko, Doctor of Science in Economics, Professor, Academician of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine. In his speech, Ivan Mykhailovych spoke about the achievements of KNUTD as the best design school in Ukraine, which confidently occupies high places in world rankings. In 2024-2025, KNUTD once again strengthened its positions in the field of training specialists for various fields of design, entered the European League of Institutions of Art (ELIA) and, according to the rating of the American magazine CEOWORLD Magazine, took 51st place among the best design and fashion institutions in the world. “In our time, it is necessary to perceive the field of art and design and other creative industries not only as a space for creating creative and innovative products, but also as an important sector of the region's economy, which significantly affects public life and is a key factor in the post-war recovery of our state. Participation in events of such a scale as the DESIGN HALL exhibition gives teachers and students the opportunity to demonstrate the high level of design education at KNUTD, to popularize the achievements of KNUTD in the Ukrainian and global educational and creative spaces” – noted the rector of KNUTD.
The opening of the KNUTD exhibition stand was attended by Liudmyla Hanushchak-Yefimenko, Vice-Rector for Research and International Cooperation; Alla Kasych, Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Activity (Educational Activity); Volodymyr Statsenko, Vice-Rector for Digital Transformation; deans of faculties, directors of educational and scientific institutes, heads of departments of KNUTD, tlecturers and students of the Faculty of Design, as well as university partners.
Dean of the Faculty of Design Kalyna Pashkevych, Doctor of Engineering, Professor, thanked the rector Ivan Mykhailovych for supporting young talents, for understanding the importance of developing the abilities and creativity of young designers, for the opportunity for students and teachers to present design projects at the highest level exhibition venues in the heart of Kyiv, as well as at the all-Ukrainian and international levels.
Serhiy Komisarov, Honored Journalist of Ukraine, Editor-in-Chief of the International News Agency UKRPRES-INFO, noted the high level of creative works presented at the exhibition by both teachers and students of KNUTD.
During May 3 and 4, communication with potential applicants took place at the KNUTD exhibition site, familiarization with the university's educational opportunities, conditions and prospects for students, rules for admission to educational programs of the Faculty of Design and the University, communication with partners, representatives of firms and companies regarding practical training of students, employment and implementation of joint educational and scientific projects.
Creative works, design projects, interior solutions, clothing models, graphic and photographic works created by students and teachers of the Faculty of Design of KNUTD were presented at the university stand.
The Faculty of Design became the organizer of a number of informative events in various fields of design - KNUTD teachers and invited foreign lecturers held master classes and lectures for visitors to the Ukrainian Design and Innovation Week: “Children's Fashion of the 20th - 21st Century: Evolution, Trends”, lecturer Olena Gerasymenko, PhD, Associate Professor, Associate Professor of the Department of Art and Fashion Design, KNUTD; “Composition in the Design of the Modern Environment” - Tetyana Bulhakova, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor, Associate Professor of the Department of Interior and Furniture Design, KNUTD; “Modern Trends in Photography Design” - Arthur Verkhovetskyi, video and photo designer (Great Britain); “Possibilities of Using Artificial Intelligence Programs in Design” - Kateryna Critchlow, invited lecturer at Birmingham City University (Great Britain).
The University's participation in events such as «Design Hall» allows teachers and students not only to present their ideas to a wide audience, but also to gain experience in professional communication, get acquainted with current trends in design, feel the influence of the latest trends, and communicate with industry experts and potential partners.
