INTRODUCTION TO KNUTD: OPEN DAYS AT THE FACULTY OF ARTS AND FASHION

At the end of April, the Faculty of Arts and Fashion of Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design (KNUTD) launched a series of meetings and engaging activities as part of its Open Days for prospective applicants. These sessions took place on Saturdays, April 24 and May 10, 2025, in a hybrid format – in the Mykhailo Voronin Conference Hall and online via Zoom.

As is tradition, faculty members and students warmly welcomed prospective applicants and their parents, immersing them in the fascinating worlds of fashion, psychology, and pedagogy. From the moment guests entered the university, they were greeted by a festive atmosphere. A multimedia presentation about KNUTD and the achievements of the faculty and its departments captured significant interest, providing attendees with an opportunity to explore the dynamic and professional environment of the modern fashion industry in a relaxed and engaging format.

Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Fashion, Natalia Ostapenko, opened the event with a warm welcome and introduced the heads of departments. She provided an overview of the academic departments and study programs: G15 “Technologies of Light Industry”, C4 “Psychology”, and A5 “Professional Education (Technology of Light Industry Products)”. The dean highlighted various aspects of the academic experience, including study formats, curriculum content, internships, international exchange opportunities, and student benefits. She also addressed the university’s commitment to safety, military training, and the support provided for both creative and athletic development. Emphasizing the modern facilities of the university, she noted the high demand for professionals in fashion and psychology. Her key message: aim high, pursue self-realization, and be a proud patriot.

As part of the event, Associate Professor of the Department of Fashion Technology, Oksana Vodzinska, presented the 2025 admission rules and entry campaign details, along with information on available majors and study programs. The technical support for the event was provided by Associate Professor Tetiana Dzykovych of the same department.

In an informative and engaging format, Olha Haranina, Head of the Department of Fashion Technology, Tetiana Struminska, Head of the Department of Fashion and Style, Inna Kosiak, Associate Professor of the Department of Professional Education in Technologies and Design, Antonina Babych, Associate Professor of the Department of Fashion Technology, and Alla Kolodiazhna, Associate Professor of the Department of Professional Education in Technologies and Design, presented the educational programs “Fashion Industry”, “Modeling, Design, and Artistic Decoration of Light Industry Products”, “Fashion Design and Technology”, “Professional Education (Technology of Light Industry Products)”, and “Psychology”. They highlighted the uniqueness of each program, the learning process, competitive advantages, student opportunities, post-graduation prospects, vibrant student life, and internship bases, and addressed questions from applicants and their parents.

Participants were also introduced to the material and technical resources of the faculty departments and other University units. Visitors enjoyed exploring the University’s unique cultural and professional spaces.

In addition, the Department representatives conducted professional workshops in fully equipped laboratories and studios. Faculty members Olha Haranina and Svitlana Lozovenko demonstrated garment processing techniques for leather and textile materials. The attendees actively participated, and at the end of the event, they engaged in a Q&A session via “open mic” and chat, receiving detailed answers from both faculty and current students.

The Open Day provided an excellent opportunity for prospective students to learn valuable information and realize that KNUTD is a place where everyone has a chance for successful self-realization.
