On April 23, 2025, students pursuing bachelor’s degrees in F2 “Software Engineering” and F6 “Information Systems and Technologies”, along with the academic staff of the Department of Information and Computer Technologies, headed by Vladyslava SКІDAN and Antonina VOLIVACH, took part in the Open IT webinar hosted by Intellias “Databases Innovative Approaches to Information Storage and Processing”. The event was organized by Kharkiv IT Cluster.
The event was moderated by Anna KORNET (Kharkiv IT Cluster) and featured a presentation by Oleh ZAREVYCH, Principal DevOps Engineer (Techstack).
During the webinar, Oleh ZAREVYCH introduced the participants to modern data technologies that enable efficient storage, processing and large-scale analysis of information. He explained the core concepts of relational (SQL) and non-relational (NoSQL) databases, highlighting the specific features and use cases of systems such as SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and MySQL.
He gave examples of non-relational (NoSQL) databases, such as document-oriented, graph and column databases, including MongoDB and Azure Cosmos DB, and the specifics of their functioning.
He also highlighted the comparative characteristics of local and cloud storage, outlining their advantages, disadvantages, and areas of application.
The speaker emphasized the key methods of increasing the efficiency of data processing, such as indexing, replication, and batching.
Mr. Zarevych paid special attention to innovative approaches to working with data using in-memory databases and edge computing technologies, an overview of Microsoft Azure services for working with data (SQL Database, Cosmos DB, Azure Database for PostgreSQL/MySQL, Azure Data Factory) and recommendations for choosing a database according to the type of application mobile, web service or analytical system.
The webinar was both informative and practice-oriented, providing valuable insights into modern approaches to data storage and processing.
We sincerely thank Kharkiv IT Cluster and Intellias for organizing this engaging event, and extend our special thanks to Oleh ZAREVYCH for his meaningful and insightful presentation.
