On April 24, 2025, an open lecture on “YouTube in IT Education: Creating and Promoting Educational and Cognitive Content” was held in the multimedia lecture hall 4-0102 of Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design by Vladyslav SHULIAKOV, PhD in Information Technology, IT practitioner. The meeting was moderated by Vladyslava SKIDAN, Head of the Department of Information and Computer Technologies, PhD, Associate Professor, and Oleh NIKONOV, Professor of the Department of ICT, Doctor of Technical Sciences.

The lecture was attended by students and academic staff of the Department of Information and Computer Technologies of the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technologies. In particular, the lecture was attended by applicants of the F2 specialty “Software Engineering”.

During the lecture, Vladyslav SHULIAKOV provided the audience with an overview of the concept of digital education on the YouTube platform, YouTube’s algorithms, and effective strategies for creating and promoting educational content. The lecturer elaborated on the principles of video ranking algorithms, such as retention of viewer attention, CTR (click-through rate), regularity of posts, and audience engagement.

A separate segment of the lecture focused on practical advice for teachers and students planning to create their own educational content. Topics covered included selecting a subject and target audience, scripting and structuring an educational video, technical tools for recording and editing, video optimization (such as titles, descriptions, tags, and thumbnails), and using analytics tools to improve content performance.

In addition, Vladyslav SHULIAKOV emphasized the importance of building an educational brand on YouTube, fostering viewer trust, and continuously improving one’s teaching style. At the end of the lecture, successful examples of Ukrainian and international educational channels were discussed, followed by a practical case study on video promotion. The lecture was enriched with visual materials, real-life examples, and an interactive discussion with the participants.
